Newbie Battery Upgrade for Iwaver Mini 4wd

I for xmas gave my son a Iwaver mini 4wd truck.
Whats the best battery upgrade.
The aaa batteries dont last long at all???

Should Igo straight to a li ion battery system?

I am really new to this but am a mechanic by trade.

nimh batteries will give you the best bang for your buck. go for the energizer, duracell or eneloop cells available in supermarkets.

Jaycar carry some cheap rechargeable nimh aaa batteries - Powertechs.

Also get some bearings to replace those plastic bushings.

i agree.. stick with NIMH which you can use in other things around the house as well..
i'd also consider a nice charger like the MAHA MH-9000..

I'll hunt down some Sanyo enneeloop AAA's then.
Thanks for the tips.

Should I get 6, an extra battery case and wire up the extra 2 cells?

Just for anyone else that reads this thread

I damaged an Iwaver 02M board with 5 cells.. so be wary with 6..
