*grins* Welcome aboard Ben. I always would say that OEM cars are the worst ones to have as your first purchase 😉
Still as has already been suggested, check for the wiring being properly attached at to the PCB. Check that there’s nothing fouling the steering mechanism.
And worst case disassemble the front end to check the magnets.
