This was bit of a hack job.
I dremeled out the inner sides of the gearbox that surround the pinion, then made sure it fit. When I came to put it together I noticed that the pinion was too wide, it was hitting the diff gear. So I ground it down to just over half it s original width.
I had to add extra spaces under the motor, I just use folded electrical tape. It works well and I can make custom widths.
So far so good, the gearbox has been cleaned, lubed and sealed. Now I m just waiting for a busted ball mount to dry and stiffen and I ll be ready to test it out….

thanks fellas,
I’m having issues though. fwd isn’t as fast as rev. I think the motor isn’t sitting %100 flat….
hmm……

dude, in the 2nd picture at the back, you see those purple fuzy things? they’re li-ion 3.6V 1.3Ah batts, yeah baby! 🙂 gotta make a charger for them first but….
I can’t get the grub screw thingy to sit tight enough, what a POS! The pinion shears loose after a couple of fwd/rev motions, so I gotta fix that first…..

strewth mate. Over the top. Lokks like you get your rubber off Bithed, would I be right? They make much difference over the stock treadies? Video later please…

the rubbers came from http://www.minizstore.com . Their prices are a little higher than rcmart, their shipping is good. They also have stuff that rcmart doesn’t have….
I like these tyres, I like them a lot more than the stock treads. they grib a lot better, especially on concrete and indoor smooth surfaces like tiles and wooden floorboards.
In the grass the car seems to glide a bit over the terrain, unlike the stock treads.. the outcome is that the front end doesn’t bounce around as much. I still have spring shocks on the front since I busted the shaft on one of my oil shocks, so that makes the front a bit stiff anyway…

my tip for tightening the pinion is to lube the thread. you sholud really do this to all metal to metal threads, they won’t strip as easily and you can tighten a little more than without. either that or make a little flat spot on the motor shaft where the screw will sit:8ball:

yeh grind down a flat spot like on a standard motor also use teflon tape it makes it sld in easy and also helps make sure it wont fall out

holy shite dude so those batts are the same size as normal nimhs aaa? so if my math is right
4 times 3.6v = 14.4
opposed to
4 times 1.2V = 4.8holy fuck is all i can say :smiley16:

nah, they are %150 bigger. two of them would be used, 7.2V….

UPDATE
Well I finally got the pinion to stay on tight and bloody hell, this thing is faaaaast! I believe I have now broken the 40kph barrier or at least I have achieved close to it.
I’m happy that the madforce still wheelies when going from rev to fwd. It doesn’t wheelie from a standing start anymore like it did when I had the 12t pinion in it.
I still think I can get another %10 – %20 out of it with a faster motor. Currently it’s a plasma dash armature, I’m sure I can get it to go faster.
You gotta love the torque though, with 14t it’s still poopin wheelies, you have nelly to thank for that! lol….
