its still using the stock stage2 armature but with neos.
tha fets were jus change since i ran out. jus a single stack of SI s
so the car is pretty cheap and easy to build all together.
hrdest part is prolly the bevel pinioni took the pic before the flag came up to show thas wut the car wus currently running. 59kph came up rite after i took the pic. i usually get i the mid to high 60s but these batteries are a few years old and prolly gettin near its 1000th charge if not past it. i got them when the first 650mah cells came out. i jus didnt wannah use my new energizers750s to do this
note that thats just a beater body and very temparary and jus for racing. im currently working on a skyline body for this car.
yes, i can rewind or mount a faster motor and stack fets, but i like the off the line missle like acceleration(thnx awd) and endurance it has on the track. i do wannah try a nelly and a plasma armature and see wut it gets on the checker

chino, as usual your work kick’s major butt man! 😀
what have you done to the bevel pinion, how many turns does it equate to now??
love the rear fatties, they from the camaro or mustang????

i guess its a 1:1 ratio from wut sumone else has told me(im not to at the technical lingo) i use 2 bevel gear and one of them for a pinion. i cut the hole bigger and squeezed in a small brass pinion with a vise then glued it in place.
my rear tire are wide tamyia foams for mini 4wd cars. to mke wider rim to fit the wide foams i customed 2 stock rsx rims. i cut and extra set i had in half and glued the back half in front of the rsx rims shaved down the spine in the rim, then i wus able to fit my fatty foams. dubblesided tape is needed cus they tend to fly off w/o them. i ight need sum newones soon, as u can see, their pretty eatin up from racing.
idea: this chassie has holes to mount a miniZ01 rear end. before i got a 55kph with 4cell and a stock motor with a mrs4 13tooth pinion. i jus got a 17tooth pinion i wannah see wut it can do with a six cell.
btw: how much is ur second version of nelly be shipped to the US california?

outstanding! the battery placement looks much better than strapping them to the roof, no toppling over for this bad boy! oh, wait. just saw the body:D:8ball:

betty, haha ur pretty rite tha car rarely flips over. that body wus recently mounted on that car. it used to be on my 4cell car wich has been through alot since it wus my first xmod. thas my beater body, most of tha damage came from rough play with micros. also i abuse tha car very badly, ram and hit other cars, jump ramps , speed bumps, stairs, escalators, and has been ran over once. it ok thoe i got so many other bodies. and 3 of them are RSXs red, painted blk and the blk RSX top kit.
ph2t, thnx
pork_hunt, i got the pinion set from my local hobby shop, they are a set of pinions made by O’kami 9 to 17tooth pinions, made for mini4wds

i just rewound tha motor to a 40 turn. it wus so much faster haha.
but while chasing cars in front of tha mall, my xmod suddenly stopped. tha ar still turns. i havt opened it up yet. but i do hope its just the motor com conections melted away. i really hope i didnt fry my fets, haha its tha last 2 SI’s i hav. i guess immah have to get some more soon anyway. i jus dont have any money. where do u guys buy ur fets from?ok plz, pray for me that its only the motor thats the problem. stock xmod fets suck!

may the gods be with you!
the stock xmod fets are pretty good, the heatsink saves them much better than mini z fets. ph2t is running a p dash armed motor in his, no smoke yet!:8ball:

October 13, 2004 at 3:46 am #56093
ya no smoke, but not the highest amount of torque either…. .BUT nelly will change that! 🙂

haha thx betty, well yah performance wise, that stock fet hav no kind of torque. but for sum reason swaping out one of the drive fets for the smaller steering fet(i had extra) almost dubbled the torque. i did this fora while before i got my bag of SI’s its been good to me. i dont know why it works but it does. ive been useing a 40turn with it

ok cool. jus the motor winding connections melting off. i must get better solder.
-
October 13, 2004 at 12:13 pm #56106
you’ll find that solder may not be a permanent repair alone. most armatures have little hooks on the comutator for the wire to run in, use them. most motors heat up inside enough to melt the solder.:8ball:
-
October 13, 2004 at 6:13 pm #56119
yeah i noticed, seem to happen more frequently now, i try to use tha hooks as much as possible but i always seem to break them prying them open. i saw that sum trinity 540 motor arms have the wires solderd to the comm. i wanah set that kind of solder.

probibly, ill have to go by the hobby shop and ask them about that stuff. thnx betty
-
October 14, 2004 at 1:36 am #56132
nope, that stuff will melt too…
The big guns use silver solder….sadly no soldering iron will melt this stuff, usually a gas torch or something has gotta be used….

October 14, 2004 at 5:01 am #56134
i got one of thoes i temp ones that has like a pistol grip. two leads coming out meeting in to one tip. that should work right?
-
October 14, 2004 at 2:10 pm #56137
For what? Solder or silver?
No iron will have a hope of melting silver solder……

worth a shot, at least if it all fails you can just buy another motor. none of the motors i wound were any good, there is an art to it.:8ball:

Chino, what type of motor are you using??
If you go with a Tamiya Plasma Dash or the similar Atomic design, you will have zilch probs….

October 16, 2004 at 5:56 pm #56173

that’s a pretty slick lookin’ bod! one question, how does the coily aerial affect reception?:8ball:
-
October 17, 2004 at 8:56 am #56181
my reception is only better cus its longer. i jus needed an antenna that can take alot of abuse. so it flexs instead of bending and braking every time i land cockeyed after a jump. also its easier to keep in my pocket
