Go and download the video at http://www.dgrracing.com/~mia-f1/video/Rd2_RACER_A_FINAL.wmv
It s a part of http://www.mia-f1.com…..they are a japanese miniz F1 club, but they occasionally run racers too. Their simple track, conducted of Ozite, coloured foam and beams are run with a stock motor + 6t pinion setup, so there s no crazy speed, but wow, they sure have skill.
windows media player and the right codec is needed; the default one that comes with win98 can run mine….and a good download program, like Getright helps keep the 20+meg download going consistently. Oh, and another thing…this is the best racetrack video i ve seen but that s only my opinion. if ur disappointed, uve been warned:evil:
download and tell me whatcha think.

yep. I’ve yet to experience a Z on ozite, but from what i hear, spinouts are a rarity since the grip factor on those carpets is like 150%.
Their barriers (some green sorta flat stuff with racing flaps) are so easy to abuse, i’m surprised none of ’em decided to cross country their way to victory. Yeah there were some beams to hold em down, but still….;)

cant watch it dude… 21 meg’s too big for this pc at the mo… damnitt!! So what’d I miss? Oh, and Geo; you bring an interesting point to the chat… I think we all should be dropping back down to stock motor setup, so we’re not speeding through the barrier edges…

(Out of Topic)
But stock! but what happens to all those x-speed, SO3 and Plasma of ours?To prevent speeding through barrier edge i guess the only way is to not speed or go full throtle around corners~

As I know the Kyosho Mini-Z Cup in Japan is using X-Speed and Stock car. optional FET, Toubo and Other motor are not allowed.

yeah that makes for the best racing, plus the person with the best racing style wins, not the one who uses the biggest power boost.
any monkey can go fast in a straight line, takes skill to corner and not spin out!

I finally got the link working woo hoo!
Talldude i know what you mean when you said the link isn’t working because i tried it several times and it didn’t work either~
I’m presuming that is traffic problems, try downloading it again at different times!
-
May 25, 2004 at 11:34 pm #51738

damn fine racing i must add, now that looks like real good fun!
if we get a set up like that going i will very happy :smiley16:

That was some sweet, quick and swift driving they got there.
They are running on stock and it looks like they got x-speed, so bloody fast!

Did u see the taisan porshe and skyline? they are so damn good, fastest line EVERY CORNER. They use Futaba 3pk’s i think – apparently they have adjustible step control, throttle proportion, and many other things.
For stock motor and 6t, the z is literally so slow u can control it better….i think?
-
May 26, 2004 at 2:36 am #51745
BTW i’ve heard of an experienced stock racer using just Xspeed and 7t to pull more laps than a PNso1 Fetted Z! Apparently, the extra speed made for extremely taxing cornering.
I have virtually no memory of what it’s like to run stock motor and 6t. Perhaps i should try that…..but DAMN it’s gonna be slow as slugs.

With the stock car, you can use X-Speed with 8t, it can give you upto 32km/h. It also very fast.:D And I also enjoy to play stock with X-Speed too.:D

So your’re saying faxing the fastest motor and FETS isn’t going to do you any good in a corner?
So an x-speed would beat a Plasma in a corner?

BTW here’s the next best MIA F1 video
http://www.dgrracing.com/~mia-f1/video/Rd2_F1_A_FINAL.wmv
This time their using F1’s and the layout has been slightly altered to have more hairpins and straights. And yes, they’re yet again on stock motor with 6t. They even have a warmup round before racing, and actual pit stops in between (well, battery changes anyway). The mclarens and ferraris rule!

dgs73: no worries, you’re not missing much, the first vid is just an indoor carpet track…..perhaps 6m x 2m, sparesly arranged with green sheets and racing flaps to simulate grassy land. Basically, they race 8 cars at a time composed of porsches, GTRs, nsx’s, C5s and a lone F355 (gasp! no supra or vipers?! a crime!). the buzzer goes, music starts, and they race……
BTW i’ve got a ton of vids from HK to toronto, almost 130 megs worth. Pity i don’t have a cd burner :). Hong Kong has this top champion called Ah Keng or Ken for short….his Z,a Ferrari Modena MR01 has won countless feats and he represented HK in Kyosho’s mini-z cup asia. BTW the top players in HK use an unheard of handwound motor that delivers 45kmph….gotta get hold of one of ’em.
-
May 27, 2004 at 2:35 am #51779
that cool!
45kmph isn’t much i guess, but what other mods did he have? I’m guessing you need a turbo or at least FETS to run that turbo~
Geo man burner only cost $45! i can install it for u if you want~ i installed my one my self 😀

you are obsessed with FETs and turbos, are’nt you Tim? Geo; i’ll download later this week when i’ve got the space, as i’m keen to see this…
-
June 8, 2004 at 11:22 pm #52180
Well, we’ve raced around our first track, an L configuration, and have come to the conclusion : 6t is a must ;).
dgs: I’ve soldered the caps to your motor, the legs won’t really stick to the motor case, no matter how many solder I apply…..actually, i’ll have another go.
-
June 9, 2004 at 5:55 am #52183
geo, get a file and file the can where the cap legs will sit. then with a little blob of solder on the tip of your iron, place it on the can and after a couple of seconds introduce some new solder to the join. this should give you a good solder pad for the caps.:8ball:
-
June 9, 2004 at 1:04 pm #52186
cheers for that Geo… try a tiny bit of sandpaper and rough up the spots you’re going to solder to
-
June 9, 2004 at 8:35 pm #52220
sweet video, the ready, set and go sounds made me think of Ridge Racer for some unknown reason…

-
June 10, 2004 at 1:30 pm #52252
bettyk thanks for the info. Oh yeah, and dgs, i’ve been told that the brushes on the ***** won’t really last long due to the, uh, ****** limit (hope i haven’t given it away), u sure u don’t wanna pop it into a bbcan with higher ***** carbon brushes?
Yo novin, u mean the vid that dis thread is about? They’re from MIA F1, a mini-z fanclub in japan…they only race stock miniz’s and always race with j-pop and stuff in the background.
-
June 10, 2004 at 1:36 pm #52253
aaah cool – they have a sweet setup there!!

-
June 16, 2004 at 1:43 pm #52494
hey dgs did u see the vids yet? neway, did u manage to solder that cap leg that kept snapping off?
-
June 16, 2004 at 1:52 pm #52497
nah mate, still no luck with the vids… being a work pc we try and avoid downloading too large a file due to the memory space needed to run these machines. I’ll see them on the weekend, may drop round to Petewah’s to have a gander. As for the Torque tuned, it’s on it’s way to Jamie at this moment.
