well i ve begun the downward spiral and got me an i waver!:dead:
first let me say that i was under no illusions as to the difference in quality between kyosho and i waver. and i ve never really used a kyosho so it s hard for me to compare the 2.
but i m verry happy with this little baby!:p stock with alkalines it moves quite well, obviously not super quick but not slow enough to be unhappy. i also got the escalation motor which i installed and it s a bit better, say about 20% more speed. the wheels are abit wonky, one was very bad, but i managed to straighten it out enough and i expect this to be solved with bearings.
the diff is pretty crappy but i wasn t expecting miracles and at least it works.
the propo is quite nice, not as many steps as a mr01 but still plenty enough, say about 40 steps each way. for some reason reverse is slightly slower than forwards, not a problem so far.
i got the lancer evo and porche bodies and i gotta say the decals are the worst! most of them came off the lancer when i touched them!:D no problem for me, it s a lot better than i expected. i just washed them off and i can paint it if i want anyway. if you ve seen my bits you ll know i m not to precious when it comes to bodies!!:smiley2:
there were a couple of things missing from my set, the pinion set and the low motor mount. bit of a bummer as they re parts i d like to use right away. but that s between me and toyeast.
so all in all, $25us for a pretty good mr01 ripoff is fine with me even with the odd lack of quality. i can just upgrade to quality parts when i need to (which i will!). i ll try to get some pics up on the weekend.

bring on the melbourne 1:28 wars!!:p:8ball:

yeah dude i got one recently as well. there not bad for the money.

some quality issues have to sorted out first, i didnt get any pinon gears with my iwaver either and a body clip was broken off the shell.

these were no biggie seeing i had spare pinons and glue.

i put bearings and a x-speed and its quicker then my Z. must of been cause i “broke in” the xspeed this time.:question::question:

i got this iwaver for a mate but he seems to lack interest now, so im going to use this thing as a drifter and thrasher! still seeing if i can put on a turbo for this thing if i can i reckon it wont last long cause i crash it fast LOL.

not a bad car for the money is my thinking.

betty wat mods u gonna do to it btw?

well i’ve got bearings and cambered knuckles on the way and jamie kulhanek is gonna hook me up with a better diff and a 9t pinion. i’d like to get wider wheels and alloy up the front end a little. as for the body, working on these should be a breeze after fiddling around with bit shells! i plan on grinding it down slowly on any surface it happens to be skidding along at the time! and then i’m gonna alloy blah blah blah motor blah blah blah shocks……….

      update:

just dropped an x speed motor with a 9t pinion in this baby and it absolutely flies now!!:p (:smiley2: ph2t!!)definately has more than twice the speed and torque than when i pulled it outta the box!!:pso just for a laugh here’s my damage list to date!

porsche body got no more mirrors or spoiler
lancer body plenty scratched up, busted chassis mounts
chassis broken at the body mount
      broken knuckle

i’m working on busting up the rest soon! super glue seems to be my best friend at the moment:D:8ball:

      funny you should say that……:dead:
had a spectacular crash the other day! fullspeed into a chair! wound up breaking the steering bulkhead and the h plate snapped clean off! but i’ve replaced all the busted bits and now that the steering is steady again it’s a killer! there’s barely any i waver left on it, ph2t was correct with his prediction that soon the only stock part will be the rx:smiley2: so far i’ve installed:

      cambered knuckles
      bb’s
kyosho clear chassis and front end
      nimh batts
      x speed motor
      delrin 9t pinion
real good diff (i forget what brand…. jamie?)
      cf h plate
      yeah racing crystals
      pretty purple wheelnuts

so i dunno whether to call it an i z or a wanna z! some may scoff at the fact that i’ve bought a lotta kyosho and aftermarket stuff to get it like this, but it was fun outta the box anyway and i got my foot in the door for only $25usd! so jam it up yer tailpipe:8ball:

word to the bird! i’ll get some pics as soon as i can. i’m painting the porche body for fun so hopefully that will be done by the time i get snapping. i rilly should buy a digi cam instead of waiting to borrow someone else’s!
as for the servo madness, turns out the vr was a little dirty or making a poor contact. a little oil solved my dilemma, if i had some crc i woulda used that. steady as a rock now!:D:8ball:

yeah my iwaver has to have a heap of new parts put on it. new engine mount, bb’s, h-plate, servo gears and im betting it needs some more soon.

ahwell its all in good fun.

apparently kyosho servo gears are not compatible with i waver servos. so i think if you wanna replace any part of the iwaver servo you’re gonna hafta buy the whole unit.:8ball:

I have an iWaver Mini-Z, and I can tell you the iWaver is not same as Kyosho Mini-Z MR-01. So, it is not 100% clone.

1 VR, 1st Servo Gear, Servo Box, Servo motor is bigger than Kyosho, so you can not use Kyosho single part to replace it. Or, you have to replace hold servo.

2 The font knuckle can not fit with Ball Bearing. So you have to using Kyosho Knuckle or 3rd Party Knuckle for Ball Bearing.

      :smiley2:
