I thought I had moved on from all this stuff, until I bought all 6 of the Tomy/Tamiya buggies….
Been away for ages, in my absence I’ve built my own custom HO (1/64 “AFX”) slot car track, and also have a new KID (he’s now 6 months old..)
Short HO Slot Car Racing vid, watch the yellow car carefully..
I even pulled out my old torturous Mini X, got it to run for about 20mins until a wire came of the ESC – fixed that but now something else doesn’t work.. nothing changes lol
Am waiting for some batteries to charge for my modded Firelap/Mini Z (stacked, Plasmatomic, rear foams, ball diff, bearings..)

too true..
I used to have a trusty old Metro Jet Hopper (Turbo Hopper everywhere else), ran it till everything was worn out…
so was very happy when I discovered the slot car versions years later 😀
(nearly as happy as I was when I discovered the Tomy Tamiya buggies hehe)

all 6 of the tomy/tamiya buggies? damn… did you get any of the kit boxes with the bagged parts in them?
the slot cars dont interest me much, the speed is fantastic but the lack of steering has allways turned me off. ever tried racing trains? could be interesting 🙂
and the fast trax slot car looks mad… is that the one that jumps the tracks and keeps going in the vid? does it really run on the tracks or has it got hidden wheels?

nah none of the kit box stuff, just the buggies alone. I’ve only ever run the Avante coz it’s the one I like least lol. A slot car track is one of the best places to run one on, either try n do laps or add a few ramps etc.
Train racing is an idea I had a while ago when a mate was getting into them, but the mass carnage doesn’t appeal to train fans…
The Fast Trax does run on it’s tracks, sounds cool when it wheelspins.
It’s not on the vid though, the vid is of our Restricted Open slot cars, much faster than standard.I agree with what you’re saying re the lack of steering, but nothing beats the speed of these things. And nothing beats organised racing, whatever it is lol .
Extremely cheap motorsport, can enter the Stock class with a $20 car. -

So are these slot car tracks of yours made to run afx sized cars or what I am sorta confused.
