Unfortunately offroad is pretty orphaned these days, especially the racing side. For backyard bashing most ppl go for the 4WD monster trucks instead of a 2WD Racing Truck.
As for chargers… don’t know what’s the specs
of the Mtroniks units. It might be a fair price
if it does what you want.As a rough guide chargers are usually starting at
$70-100 upwards in the shops. But I can get great
‘Arlec’ 12V DC autopeak 5A units (pocketsize) for
$35 and that’s what I use on nicads. -

I’m thinking of starting my own R/C offroad club….i have a venue (not sure if it’s legal…it’s a fair way from nearest fences (50-100m….okay for nitro) and my LHS says theres a fair few T-Maxxes etc. floating around launceston.
Sorry………threadjacking

Nobody uses metal spurs, not even the gas/nitro guys.
Steel pinions are available though… Duratrax probably uses a 48 pitch pinion, easily available. (how many teeth?)
Biggest killer of gears is incorrect meshing. Can’t be too far apart, can’t be too close together either. You’ve gotta get it correct otherwise you’ll go through gears quickly.
