Another hot day at the templestowe track but this didn t deter us diehard rc fans!!!
Myself, betty.k and leonli rocked up and started laying down some rubber.
Betty had just scored his new iWaver TX and was having issues comming to grips with new technology! yipes! I dunno fellas, have a look at the pic below, would you trust this man with your $$$ rc rig?
Anyways, he got it going well after some turtoring from leon. I mylself only managed to bring my IW-02 to the meet today. Just didn t have enough time to get all my chassis together for a decent run.
Track time people, nothing beats track time when you reall want to tun your rig. It s the difference between a fun day and that spent more than half the time on the sidelines fixing stuff.
Given the heat, we all had to resort to sing leon s high tech cooling system.
In the end we had lots of fun and got some serious time in. The day was soo hot that I never had one set of batteries cool. They would come off the charger hot and go straight into the chassis. 10 mintues later I would take them out and they would be even hotter!!!
I had 5 sets of batteries and I learnt an important lesson today. Deep cycle your batteries before the meet!!! Ensure your packs are matched and that the capacity is nice and healthly. At one point I was only getting 200mA into a set of 4 aaa s on the charger which gave sucky runtimes….
So in the end, I give you the players….
From left to right:
ph2t s IW-02 Ford Focus, betty.k s GT40 Xmod (with iwaver guts), leon s McLaren MR-01, and betty s Porsche xmod (xmod guts)….
We also had some other chassis there that day. See below. On the left is leon s Micro RS4, recently upgraded to a 480 motor CF chassis. Also is betty s little propo monster!
In the end it was a great playing field. And the day wouldn t be complete without some video!!
So here it is! DivX format. 7MB in size.

Cheers and enjoy….

who won? haha. cool vid, merry xmas guys. i wus finally able to see tha vid. looks so much fun! i wannah play! haha wow that white focus really is a rally car. warp speed in to the dirt. that thing needs a parachute. how did betty’s xmod do? i couldnt see it to well. looks like it handled good. did it spin out at all?

the xmod held it’s own. didn’t have the top speed of the iw02 but it took the corners well:8ball:

i had foamies on the rear of my Z so my car was the fastest through corners but on the long straight everyone just caught back to me.

yeah saw that. what pinion/motor are u using? wus ph2t using a 15tooth? in the vid it looked like the gt40 kept up pretty good. but man that focus wus flyin! did it jump over that dirt hill?
betty, i wus able to beat thoes trash talking MR02’s. they dont know too much about tuning like u guys do. they only know wut they sell at the hobby shop they work in. the fastest ones where 2 with gpm turbos and that purple motor they sell for mini z’s. we raced on a pvc track on a smooth parking lot. they spun out more than i thought they would. haha good thing i wusnt racing a ph2t 02 huh. i also broke one of the 01s servo gears…”he wus in my line”
man, i really wish a can race with u guys

just remember, it aint the equipment you run with….:smiley2:
f’rinstance, leon.
he usually doesn’t have the fastest most tricked out rig (any scale). but i never see him visit the dirt, slide out on every corner or spend most of the day tinkering and swearing at broken parts! and in any given race i have with him he usually laps me once or twice! so if you wanna win races, get good!but we all have fun, everyone’s a winner for at least straight or 2!:D:8ball:

very true betty.
i guess you guys gotta leare to slow down to take corners hahahaha.
after watching “novice” racers at a local club meet its surprising that the onlycar that was left (therefore the winner) at the end of the race was the only one who was able to slow down at corners and not crash causing damage to there cars.
btw your xmod looks cool with the gt40 shell.

betty, with tha hard slicks on ur xmod, shouldnt u beable to floor it through most of the turns? may if u turn down ur steering travel just a little for that track. ionnoe, it might work. haha

while i have the grip and handling to get around that track at full throttle, i get quicker times when i drive properly. you gotta setup every corner and see it through, hesitation is death!:8ball:

hahaha i like tha way u put things. i gues the goal is just, not to crash or spin out.

Yep, practise makes perfect. The racing line is important for slower cars since u don’t want to lose speed on the corner. with faster cars, u can always pick up on the straights.

ramming or pit manuvers alowed? just kidding.
i hear yah, its like when i race tha 1/18s. with a smaller car i run a wider track. a hairpin for them is a wide u turn for me. and i can break later than th a more powerful 18s. i can get in front of every turn before they all bumch up at the apex and block tha way.
its also funny how drafting works for them but makes no difference with my car. may cuas i have a plastic shel instead of lexan. umm now where to buy a minx body in the US
