Surprise Surprise I was doing some work on the Spider design and doco yesterday and thought I’d share some pics.
The first is a fairly neat iWaver 01 wiring install.

In this picture we have had to go through a bit more effort.
The original owner of this board had pretty much destroyed the pads so we’ve cut them away, then cleared off some of the solder-mask on the board and soldered on our signal leads.
Not as neat as the first one, but it works.

*laughs* As I’ve said before ph2t it _is_ the best option for the signal wires. I suppose I could have used an alternative set of 4, but then there’s always a red or black wire which tends to confuse people 🙂
And all grey, mmmm or blue etc would just have been messy.

Aaron,
What about the Evo?I’m wondering if the spider is better than a 2×2 stack of EVO FETs, and if there is wiring data out there.
kevsta:
There was this one time in church when I was a kid… People were doing what we in The South call testification. People are shouting ‘Jesus helped me stop smoking!’, ‘God helpedme not get angry at work!’, etc, etc. One dude jumped up and shouted ‘God to help me stop cheating on my wife.’
The pastor said solomnly, ‘I don’t think I would have shared that, Brother.’ True story, if only somewhat relevent.

I’m sure you are aware of what is being worked on for the EVO. When I eventually get my hands on an EVO I will add the wiring info. However until then our FETs will be the only option sold for the EVO by ausmicro.com (ph2t will ofcourse have the Nelly 1.3 and Deluxe ready to rumble for the EVO)

My Nelly Deluxe is going on my MZM, and I’m going to put the Spider on the EVO. I know it will go on, but do we have any internal resistance info on the Evo FETS? I’m wondering how they stack up (please forgive) to the various FET boards. The Evo seems to have a whole lot of torque, which screams of pretty low resistance.

Pimpsmurf, what we already know is that the double stack of FETs WoahNelly/ausmicro.com are selling are lower resistance ( a single replacement set is too) and therefore giving higher performance than the stock items.
We also know that the Spider and all current Nellys are lower again in resistance than the stacked replacement FETs.

I’m new to this forum and would like to say Hi
I’m having trouble fitting my spider to an Xmod could you please help me Aaron?
I have installed a spider and a Nelly to my MZM’s and they work GREAT!!! but I just can’t seem to get the turbo power wires correct on my Xmod. I get a hot turbo but no joy!!!
I have taken some pictures if you need to see but I would greatly appreciate it if you could post a pic of your Xmod board with everything attached.
Cheers D

The pic I attached above shows the correct orientation of the signal wires (http://www.ausmicro.net/v3/thedump/279B2A672792463B.JPG is the pic) when the power wires are connected as per their colour coding to the batteries.
If the Spider is getting hot and not doing much else it indicates the power wiring is reversed in relation to the signal wires. Do not let it be connected in this state for more than a few seconds otherwise it will blow.
A real quick test you could perform is to swap the battery wires around. If the FET wires are back to front then this will work 🙂

Oh no! I swapped the power wire and I still got the same thing, hot turbo but no power to my esc :dead:
I think I’m going to try pick up some new fets for the board and try again!
I have another spider in the post as we speak for a mini-z project, I think I’ll bin the Xmods projects for now (cheap rubbish!!!)
