Ola mi amigos. Back from my trip to the Philippines. It was cool, but I didn t find any mini cars there. The whole trip I was thinking about that nice quad cell that MA helped me get running. Well, the results are in.
Testing materials;
4 meters/13 feet of straight bit racer track
Digital speed checkerThe cars;
car #1/Firebird- internal quad cell (1/4aaa in series, 4.8volts).
bit charge booster pcb at 27 mhz. Double stacked fets to motor only. ZZ chassis and black firebird body. perfection 3.8. 3:1 bit racer gears.
car #2/Skyline 2000- internal dual cell (1/3aaa in series, 2.4volts). bit charge 1 speed pcb at 45mhz. fet modded. Bit chassis and white Skyline 2000 body. perfection 3.8. 3:1 bit racer gears.
car #3/Lamborgini- internal dual cell (1/3aaa in series, 2.4volts). bit charge booster pcb at 57mhz. fet modded. super bit chassis and yellow Lamborgini body. perfection 3.8. 8:1 bit charge gears.
car #4/Pantera- Stock super bit red Pantera w/ 1.6
car #5/Pantera- Same super bit Pantera w/ perfection 3.8
* All have sticky back tires and slick front tires*The test;
Pretty simple. Start from one end, fly down the track and through the digital speed checker. If any of you know bit racer track, then you ll know it is about the perfect width for these cars. The cars bounce a little off the walls on the way down the track, but the siding is pretty slick so I don t think it takes too much of the speed. I ran the cars through 10 times each and took the average speed.The results;
Firebird – 15kmh 9.3mph
Skyline 2000 – 14kmh 8.7mph
Lamborgini – 10kmh 6.2mph
Pantera w/ 1.6 – 3kmh 1.8mph
Pantera w/ 3.8 – 5.5kmh 3.4mph* The quad cell can definately go faster, but I would need more track to get it to top speed. The Skyline could probably get more speed with more space also.
As far as control. The Firebird hit a 2mm rock today and flew about a foot into the air and crashed. With the right track (smooth cement) it only flips every now and then. Spins out a lot. Takes some practice.
Also, I m charging the quad with a Piranha peak charger. At 100ma, it charges for about 10 minutes and runs for about 2~4 minutes. The voltage is controlled by the charger, but it stays between 6.5~7.5volts.

i’m getting a forbidden message. nice work with the test though. it would be an accurate method of checking actual running speed:8ball:

Well, I’m getting the same forbidden thing. Tried to edit the post, but that didn’t work. It’s open to the community for viewing, so that’s probably not the problem. I just deleted all the webshots software from my home computer. Maybe that did something. Oh-well, I try to fix it tonight. It’s the same pictures from before, so it’s nothing you haven’t already seen. I was just posting them to refresh people’s memory or let other people see it.

How did you fit lamborghini body into the internal dual cell chassis? I presume that you have flipped pcb ?

If you do the usual ‘properties’ thing and copy the address to your browser search line, then the pics work.
It was a little tricky to get this thing running, but its insane.

how the hell do you keep a quad cell going straight? even after tons of special chassis love its very hard to get a good dual cell to track in a straight line.

A Dual Cell is really easy to control(internal that is). a Quad Cell do need skill to control it to make it go close to it’s top speed.

most people add extra steering springs to help, but it’s a fine line between good straight tracking and good turning.:8ball:

i mean even if i ad suspension springs and redo the rear so theres no slop or slippage its still hard to get a monster to stay straight. im working on a project with a beefier rear end which should make her track like a rail.(crosses fingers)

Well, it goes mostly straight on smooth surfaces. If there is a pot hole or something it gets a little messed up. For the most part it drives really well. I’m kinda nervous about that though. With all the power and stuff I keep thinking it’s going to explode or something. It’s driving much better than I anticipated.
Matic. I’ll post some pics tonight. I’m gonna sit down in a while when I have more time and put them in my gallery. I’ll put some extra to show how I dual cell. I haven’t found a body I couldn’t fit on an internal dual celled chassis. I do them differently then most though.

Unfortunately, I was using webshots originally. That’s the one that says “forbidden”. I reloaded the software to my computer but it still doesn’t work. Also, my photo gallery wont take my pics either. Hey, if I subscribe, will this problem go away? I read about being able to upload pictures directly from my computer. Is that in place yet? I’m kinda clueless about the whole thing though. I’ve been away for so long.

ok peeps, hachi sent me the pics to post so (hopefully!!) here they is!:p
here’s the quad cell firebird, looks fast standing still!
and here’s some pics of the “lowered battery” mod that allows for low center of gravity and the lowering of flat shells even with a flipped pcb.
if those pics turn into X‘s then try here: http://www.geocities.com/bettyk3332003/hachimods.html?1082391083281
and if that fails, try this webshots album: http://community.webshots.com/album/135656737qEtQbh
and if none of that works then we’ll know that the gods will it not to be!!:D:8ball:
