me & focca (dinged up silver Z8,& a new red one!)set out a garden hose track and taped it down, it worked out for a while but tape doesn`t wanna stick down too well still think we need to work out some track for down there, maybe with some jumps!! kevsta, thought we`d see you last weekend..

he had wheel spacers under his knuckles, meaning no travel. put in some washers, now there’s travel. It was to lower it dude

Nah the spacers in the suspension were just to lower it…..it was like it had no suspension in the front. So Dave put in smaller washers and fixed it for me. My Nitro car is a GV2 with a 0.15 motor and two speed gearbox…

1.2… you know me, I like a little more speed… and it’s probably more like 4×4 metres, not 4×5. TD; will be this afternoon, my slower MR-01 chassis no more… just a few parts, ie. titanium, aluminium, some carbon. I need to keep a better hold on my temper…

The inside track sounds tiptop dgs! I think the melbourne guys also showed a pic of an indoor small track, barely the size of a small room, and it looked pretty tight. Time to break out the stock motor again, woo. 😉
-
September 23, 2004 at 3:52 pm #28127
mate i’ve been caning the 02 chassis on it… no room for even an X speed, so the other car’s out. Have finally sourced some decent surface carpet for a good price… very good actually. 3×6 metres. (roll is only 3m wide, shame…) Stuff is happening guys…

Yeah, they took 7 days just to process my order, and it only got shipped this Tuesday. They may have run out of stock, because it’s not available on the catalog anymore.
I’m also heading to Daves at 11 am as well.

That must be the race of me winning as you can only see my skyline shoot past at the end.:D

Im guessing NO WAYSorry Pete, collecting the corvette for display. 🙂
I do however have a slightly used red i-waver ferrari 355 shell if you’re interested – the one I brought to meadowbank a couple of times that has the rear part of the shell modified for the rear damper but you need to run low motor mount + zero offset fronts wheels with it.
🙂
-
September 27, 2004 at 7:26 pm #27840
Thought as much
the only ferrari’s that do it for me are the Fseries F40 F50 F60 and the enzo of course!!!If your bettle’s for sale i will buy it? and if not could i please have the use of it as i dont yet have a running shell and again it would probally support the setup i have on the chassis already Y/N
please please please

Can’t part with the beetle – wife likes it and it’s hers. 🙂
I only have the red F355 shell which I am happy to pass in your direction for *FREE* so you can get started/up and running :p – body in excellent condition, you’ve seen photos of it in the old thread. Something you could use for the time being until that expensive auto scale comes along. :):smiley2:
Maybe someone else can help you out with the part that positions the high motor mount to the low and some standard wheels.
Let me know if still interested and I will bring it next time not sure this week, but definitely the following week.
The ferrari is a sick body dude click below to jolt your memory: http://www.ausmicro.com/galleries/miniz/sydney25-4-04/imagepages/image13.html

..how good was sunday!! that`s about the easiest track we`ve ever knocked up & about the most fun i`ve had down there! driving around the courts is cool but having a track makes it rad! be cool if we could make a standard track for meadowbank, love to be able to time laps & see who got around the fastest:smiley16:

LOL looks like the file attachment is too big. Same thing happened to me when I tried to upload the movie I took of the miniking”s rx8 and tall dudes]air plane… I broke a front knuckle on Sunday just realised it after doing some maintenance so I put the stock kyosho knuckles on, and end up stripping an alloy wheel nut.

you know the track is in the pipeline… about a week away now. Being this is funded entirely by me I may have to come up with a way of recouping costs. $5 per Sunday guys? j/k (or IS IT?!?)

Can’t wait to see it in action. If we don’t have to pause for track maintenance each time someone’s car deforms the track it will be worth it.
$5 is fine with me. What about everyone else ?

How are we all mini king here again with the sunday racing report…awsome racing on sunday thanx to a killer track set out by JayZ,Roe and Focca…Tricky but very exciting racing Dave had his Supra drifting nicely.Had heaps of fun..got my micro goin in 2wd mode only thanx to a broken front one way….and snapped a rear dogbone in my nitro car:sad: Its all good now i fixed it yesterday and it is running sweet again and will be back next sunday to give that quick TC3 a run and Daves Madman Skyline which was gripping nicely thanx to it new foam tyres….Looking foward to next Sunday have to do a bit of work to my Z this week had a few weird problems on Sunday but ill check it out through the week. See you all next Sunday:D
-
October 5, 2004 at 2:33 pm #26930
Yes it was fun, but track was pretty hard and no one likes to slow down. So there were lots of track barrier jumps, rolls, crashes and sliding scratched shells. 🙂
I drove like an L plater.

TD.. Yeah those motors arrived ages ago but I haven’t run them yet..but soon.
Still playing with the x-speed which seems to have more than enough power for the track size but will need to gear down to an 8 tooth for quicker take offs.

You have an MR02 buddy – just put in an x-speed motor and it’ll all come down to driving skills plus car handling.

Hey Everyone,
Just the usuall from me again about Sunday at Meadowbank raceway(New Name)seeing as we now have a proper track thanx to roe…it is made out of conduit and all we do is connect the trck together and tape it down with glass tape and away we go…its takes 15mins to set up and you can race all day without it losing shape at all it was so much fun.My Z is running sooooooooo much better thanx to my new hop ups that bb x speed i got goes so much better.I was running some pretty competitive times around the track and getting quite a lot of speed coming down “Rainbow Bow Straight”……Big thanx to big Dave for fixing up my gas car it running heaps quicker now…All in all everyone had a great day yesterday and i cant wait for next week just remember all of you how are coming next week bring qite a few AAAs other wise you will be spewin when your sitting on the side line watching everyone else race…(like i did yesterday…im getting more AAA’s this week!!!):D:D -
October 11, 2004 at 6:30 pm #26563

the table could be considered “club” property lol.

October 12, 2004 at 2:17 am #26525
Icebreaka: sorry dude i gave the x speed to big Dave cause he helped me out with my nitro car.. I should be getting a few more b/b can X speeds if your interested???Should be here around the same time as my mr02 its coming from the States…:D
Jamie: My nitro car is a GV2 made by great vigor it runs an OS 15 Motor with a 2 speed gearbox…Ive told you before dude,Ive written this same shit like 5 times already…
Talldude:Look forward to seeing you there on sunday dude im getting a few more AAAs this week cause with that track man i could stand there and race my Z all day…. :Dsee you there dude.
-
October 12, 2004 at 3:01 am #26526
I should be there as well this Sunday. Got the F355 running again, can’t wait to try it out on the track.
I got to bring a chair as well on Sunday – can’t handle standing around all day.
Had some time to myself this evening and unwound 20 turns from a stock motor in a hope that I could get the performance of an X-speed out of a stocker. It drew 0.8A at startup and 0.4A noload and 0.5A on load. Unfortunately it didn’t go as hard as my x-speed :(]
So is the new track made from pvc pipe and elbows ?]
-
October 12, 2004 at 3:07 am #26523
thats alright.. I’ll jus wait till i get to go to meadowbank .. thanks anyway for the offer..:)
-
October 12, 2004 at 1:03 pm #26524
Kev; yes, plus the odd straight join and t- joins… the thing is awesome
-
October 12, 2004 at 2:09 pm #26520Quote:Kev; yes, plus the odd straight join and t- joins… the thing is awesome
I was thinking, to make the track have that ’round corners’ effect, should we use some of the thin eva foam mat that I have and cut out some curves and circles and use them for track over runs (is this what they’re called) ? We could place adhesive velcro and tie them to the corner pvc pipes so they won’t move, cars will still be able to run over the top of them because they’re only 2-3mm thick. And if really keen, we could paint a red and white edge on them too.
Just a thought, let me know and I’ll bring them on Sunday.
-
October 12, 2004 at 2:45 pm #26521
u meant ripple strips right kev?
sounds like a good idea dude go for it!
cant wait till this sunday :smiley16:
-
October 12, 2004 at 4:12 pm #26519
it would decrease the width of corners Kev, but you’re onto something. I’m heading out to Bunnings this Friday afternoon to get; 44 lengths of 4ft. long 20mm round pvp piping, about 20 straight joints, 10 T joins and 10 L joins. The layout will be the same as Roe’s (for those of you that’ve seen it), but with 4 foot wide lanes all round. This added to Roe’s stuff will make for a huge track, with almost unlimited layout possibilities. (Just mine layed out in the original layout comes in at 16 by 32 foot. Oh yeah…!!!:approve::D:p:):smiley2:
-
October 12, 2004 at 4:51 pm #26501
LOL TD, somehow I knew you would know what I was talking about…
Dgs, sounds good, pvc costs a bit – if you know someone that gets a trade discount at bunnings it would be good.
I think elbows/t-pieces are around $2-$3 each x 40 which comes to around $120 !?
A single straight is around $7 x 22 (assuming 8ft lengths) comes to $154 so all up total around $274
🙂

-
October 25, 2004 at 1:11 pm #25943
Cosmo; everyone’ll say they do. Mine with it’s current motor at it’s best was checked at 59kph with an eleven tooth pinion (Jay-Z; Kev’s is a 14t), but that motor’s dead now, awaiting rebuild. New motor going in when Next weeks meet happens. Setup? Um… no room here, go to my gallery and have a look at the Madman… that’ll answer most questions… Roe; shite. bloody rain… needed and all, but only on Sunday? Come on… So we set up in my loungeroom. 3 Z’s and a 2 x 1 metre track makes things very interesting… It did start with Bits but soon evolved into Z jumping and other stupidity
-

dgs, do plasma dash armatures have easily charred comms? Or do they wear thru brushes more easily? My motor states that it must only be used in 10 minute races (max) with an aftermath cooldown period of 15mins! Dunno about the plasma, but i remember they can all get quite hot…..
When I race with HO scale slotcars (Aurora AFX, Tyco, Lifelike, Marchon track), the tiny armatures in those cars needed a cooldown period of 10 mins between continuous 15 min intervals….so maybe a little cooldown could help in prolonging the life of electric motors?
From what i’ve seen, dgs’s rebuilt plasma was quite fast, with top end speed being even faster than my atomic/PN mod motors. Dunno about kevsta’s one tho 😉

-
November 3, 2004 at 5:19 am #25576
depends on how much you race and what set up you have with batt’s i go through at least 5 or 6 but 2 or 3 sets of 4 batts are killed because of my turbo car! so if you have a non turbo x-speed car you should be fine with 2 or 3!
its meadowbank netball courts and we get there around mid-day. usually one of us at mid-day rest seem to follow from that time :smiley2:
ill be there if anyone needs a lift or something just pm me ill see what i can do (if you live 100k’s away from me i aint gonna pick u up! lol)

November 8, 2004 at 8:55 pm #25383
Guys, I don’t need to remind you both that we don’t need this sort of bi@tching.
MK take a chill pill dude, no-one ‘owns’ rights on anything at Meadowbank – except maybe bragging rights for top speeds or race results. I read what Dave wrote probably a bit differently to you – it can be taken two ways… Take it the ‘good’ way …. ie Dave’s outa the top speed race for now and other’s are Welcome to ‘bring it on’…
Don’t start dragging the coolness of it down with arguement. I know Dave’s had one fo the fastest cars in Sydney for a long time, and naturally there’s other cars that are as quick these days.
BUT do not forget why you’ll all getting down to Meadowbank – it’s to hang out and be social like and have some friendly racing – not baiting and harrassing each other…

OK – “Holding the queens crown for you” is a pretty tactless comment, but I don’t think for a moment that anyone is trying to be delibrately hurtful here. Heck I’ll take the Queens Crown if it’ll make everyone feel better – besides I have a great @ss in a short skirt :clown:

Wow… add some cleavage and some hipsters and we’ve got a scene for home and away. :p:D
So I’ve got top speed for the Z *for this week*. Who really cares ? I can assure you that I don’t and no I didn’t win any prizes. *LOL* I just merely pushed up the high water mark and I’m not going to brag about it either.
I just enjoyed putting all the theory to practice from all the information you get from ausmicro and other z sites and that wouldn’t have been possible if people didn’t share their knowledge for this wonderful hobby of ours.
So dudes, make up and give each other hug and a kiss on the cheek and lets enjoy Sunday racing gatherings in a friendly atmosphere.
Talldude, glad to help you out with your motors and motor mount, let me know when you get those new motors of yours man. Anyone else need help – just ask.
Roe, Thanks for letting me have a go of your drift car, I can assure you it was exhilarating.:D 54K’s on you i-waver – I think we’ve got enough contenders for some high speed netball court lapping races now.
😀Icebreaka, You’ve got a good setup with that mr02 of yours. You were lapping me along with Big Dave 😯

November 9, 2004 at 10:35 pm #25312
high speed oval racing sounds a goer kev!
all we need is witches hats a turbo a fast motor and a 5-10 min limit (to prevent major meltdowns) and we have a race!
would be cool, anyone know where we can get a radar gun? LOL
-

-
November 10, 2004 at 4:07 pm #25295
*laughs* I would love to see this. So we’re talking about running with motors that like have running lives measured in minutes before needing $$$ rebuilds? Yikes….
When did Mini-Zs get so expensive 😉

i’m tired of shelling out cash after every 5 – 10 runs for rebuilds… this is the reason i’m out of the high speed game… once this motors done, that’s it. Maybe:smiley2:
-
November 11, 2004 at 2:50 am #25252
y not do a high speed run! it will be like a eig oval…….. think an egg but on a grand scale!
have to use the real long netball court side have to have top speed and enuff runoff area.
plus cameras, radar, ice (for people and cars LOL) and enuff gutts to stay on the throtle. 😀

Yeah, the scraping noises that I hear from my one doesn’t sound too healthy. But wouldn’t mind just giving it a run on your tammy to see how it compares.
🙂

November 12, 2004 at 3:03 pm #25190
Had a go of my xspeed pro last night and it’s all okay – no more weird noises. Motor feels very quick and has lots of torque. Batteries very hot after 5 minutes run.
Think you might have a dud one TD.

November 18, 2004 at 3:13 pm #24878
…Yeah, i should be there this sunday, had stuff to do last week. Got my iwavers yesterday, man those things are very fast stock! with a 9 tooth and an iwaver pro motor, i hit 45 on the speed checker, shame about the build quality tho, but for the price of 1 Z i got myself 3 of em…:D
-
November 18, 2004 at 3:55 pm #24877
Yeah man that Iwaver was quick last nite man i want to turn my 1.5 into a speed monster now they are worth it for the price…. the drifting was awsome last nite dude we just hve to get a few more packs so we can some longer run times…….i really want enough space to open my nitro car rite up we need to find a track of some sought……:D:Dno were near enough room last nite man it had been so long since i drove that thing i forgot how fast it was…..i might be there sunday cause i need to see Talldude…….:D:smiley2::D

November 18, 2004 at 4:44 pm #24825
…yeah for sure bro, bring it down on sunday, the 7 courts might be long enough to see the beast really unwind!!
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, the iwaver dosen’t like the futaba controller (unlike the Z) for some reason there was little range (1-5metres) using this controller, the KT2 seems to work fine with the iwaver! go figure!…:)
-
November 18, 2004 at 5:12 pm #39483

November 23, 2004 at 12:24 am #24758
was a good day out for me yesterday.
had my tb02 runing, doesnt need any major work which is cool, consiering its my first ever 1/10th ive built i think i did alrite :smiley16:
all i need now is more batts(we all have been there) and some drift wheels!
have to upgrade my turbo its lacking punch thats for sure.
btw kev i got a pd motor that i need your help with.
im interested in the rc18t aswell but cant make up my mind between that or a mini quake?????
i like the look of the mini quake but the rc18t looks to have a better build and ive seen some vids of it in action, it looks the business!
btw my zip zap monster went up a dirt path just like a rock crawler but at 1/64th scale! was really cool.
-
November 25, 2004 at 12:41 am #24557
my tb02 hop up parts have been bought…
Now the long wait for the rest of the stuff…:)
I got a feeling the mini-quake might have more of a tendency to roll than the rc18t. But I agree it looks better…
-
November 25, 2004 at 4:11 am #24562
what hop up parts did you get dude?
i got an alloy motor mount dats it.

November 26, 2004 at 6:09 pm #24511

well accleration is good but top speed is shite.
handles well coz of lack of speed me thinks but, i got mine for drifting and novice races i dont want to spend a shite load on 1/10ths my bank balance is only just recovering from the mini z’s!!!!!!!
-
November 26, 2004 at 7:20 pm #24523
Very True dude……the stock motors are good for drifting and mucking around with…:D:D:Did like to see your 1/10 dude youll have to get it out man i got all my stuff in the back of my car, up for a race ….?????:D:D
-
November 26, 2004 at 8:04 pm #24519
Yes surprisingly the cost of parts for 1:10 are about the same as mini-z parts with the exception of motors & batt packs. I won’t be doing any club racing at this stage, just casual friendly races around strategically placed witches hats.
MiniKing, when I get all my gear together, I’ll race you no worries.
😀

Yeah, I know what you mean, I’ve got an urge to take my z out for some good high speed racing around those netball courts again. It’s okay to run them indoors, but once in while you want to run continuous full throttle with no obstacles.

December 14, 2004 at 2:42 pm #23734
yeah we definately need to organise a big meet for next year……it will be more than just the Z’s running though as now most of us have 1/10 electric touring cars……I cant wait next year is gonna go off we have enough 1/10 tourers to have some pretty cool races track and drift….cant wait can just picture 5 or 6 cars drifting at the same time…… :D:smiley2::D:smiley2: Im itching to race my drifter i had it out last nite i put foam tires on it and i was running it in the street in the dark…….only had street lights and car headlights as a guide my electric car is running really sweet….i want to race this thing on a proper track and against other 1/10’s…..:D:D:D
-
December 14, 2004 at 3:15 pm #23731
and 18th scale Mini Ts… lol you guys got a portable 1/10 track eh? Cant wait to see it
-
December 14, 2004 at 4:38 pm #23730
if you are going to be drifting im not bringing the tc3…. takes too long to clean the pvc snow off the car:dead: haha will have to get the tl-01 out for some drifting action.
BIG DAVE

true… and that crap gets into everything… i found some in my servo box last night. Z servo box that is. Bugger that. It almost did
-
December 14, 2004 at 5:10 pm #23709
PVC aint that bad just use a air compressor to clean your car after a days run it all comes off no worries just as easy as dirt and dust….If you have a compressor that is……ill prob just drift my 1/10 at meadowbank and go to Tempe to race on a proper track.Portable track for 1/10’s whos got that…???? not a bad idea use the same idea as a z track…..but with bigger pipe.I got an idea……..:D:smiley2::D:smiley2::D
-
December 14, 2004 at 5:17 pm #23727
use it wisely my friend…:smiley2: And i might try to get the Zers down and done by the time you 1/10ers show up… not runnnig through pvc dust AND dodging 1/10 missiles… PeteWah knows what i mean…:smiley2::D
-
December 14, 2004 at 8:27 pm #23700
I want to get my 1:10 running again just for the purpose of drifting, All i need is the pvc and esc and im ready to go…
Me and Big Dave can be team TL01 drift and like MiniKing said it would be good to see six seven cars drifting…
Cant wait for the conversion -
December 14, 2004 at 8:33 pm #23701
Sorry dgs, Maybeeeeeeeee its time for you to get a cheap 1:10 just for the purpose as well
Or will it be sometime in the new year for you:smiley2: or not at all…:evil::D:smiley2: -
December 14, 2004 at 8:36 pm #23702
mate I got into this hobby on the micro scale and that’s where i’ll be staying. So; not at all.
-
December 14, 2004 at 8:54 pm #23654

Or will it be sometime in the new year for you:smiley2: or not at all…:evil::D:smiley2:you know i’ve got other hobbies too Pete… they’ve been left on the backburner long enough. A 1/10 would see me ignoring my (lets be honest) more enjoyable pass times for another year
Dont get me wrong though guys!! I do love my little cars… also, Pete; you know I dont do thing by halves… it would not be a cheap one, and it would’nt be stock. Due to my being like this i’ve decided to give 1/10 a miss. We’ll see how things are looking by my birthdayEdited by – dgs73 on 14 December 2004 16:40:57

I guess your not realy giving to shits either waylater rather than sooner

December 14, 2004 at 10:21 pm #38963
yeah the thought of pvc everywhere is not cool.
might have to use a “special drift court”
hate cleaning pvc off a hot mini z.
-
December 14, 2004 at 10:46 pm #23687
Yeah and, A air compressor is not going to get all the stuff out of a motors guts of a mini z and it gets into the servo box as well as dave said…
(crunch break replace, no thanks)
That being said you can guess that my gripe is that its more maintainence for all :smiley2::smiley2: -

If it’s a choice of unwrapping girl pubic hair from the ball diff or brushing small flakes of pvc off – I’d know which one I’d choose.
-
December 15, 2004 at 1:42 am #23683
LOL Kev……..a air compresor gets the PVC out fine pete, you have to remove the motor on the 1/10 anyway if you want to clean it properly well i do anyway….that way i can inspect brushes and clean the com……i dont have a problem getting the stuff off…….if you dont want the sh*t in your Z’s then run them seperatley and have a designated drift section….like Talldude suggested…..:D:D:D
-
December 15, 2004 at 1:21 pm #23665
there’s only one or two haire on occaision Kev… because netball has been finished for ages. Hair only gets on/in the diff and wheel areas… that pvc crap gets EVERYWHERE
-
December 15, 2004 at 1:36 pm #23664
man u supply the compressor and no worries. and having a drift area is not much better as it seems to float all over the place.
BIG DAVE

December 15, 2004 at 1:53 pm #23662
my point exactly… would’nt mind if I only had one or two cars running, but having to do all of them…

true, true… but how do you make a point without the politically correct crowd getting rowdy? We just want them to know how alot of us Zers feel about that pvc everywhere. You mentioned one or two bits of hair? How about one or two thousand bits of fine pvc everywhere? This I think is Pete’s gripe… and well justified
-

Oh, my point about the hair was, yes I would prefer to remove hair rather than fine particles of pvc and yes it was also affecting my handling because it was reducing tyre grip, and yes I took extra long to maintain the car afterwards and who knows what it’s doing to our systems if we’re inadvertently inhaling it when a gust of wind decides to blow it in our direction.
I’m sure the drifters weren’t aware of all the pvc dust being left behind and the ill affects of it on other racers.
All we can do I think is to ask and to be nice about it.
🙂
-
December 15, 2004 at 11:39 pm #23629
real drift tires are expensive and dont last long.
all this time without a drifter on the courts must mean that its clean for now. lets try to keep it that way and only use one side for drifting and on the far other side for Z’s.
btw kev when is that rc18t coming in u used it yet?

December 16, 2004 at 12:14 am #23627

December 20, 2004 at 7:46 am #23527
Hey guys!
Just a little note from ur recently sabbatical ausmicro sydney member….i’m once again overseas, my sis is getting married, so been busy lately…..haven’t seen y’all for a while but i’ll be back in mid jan. Hows the the plasma dash dgs? Got nething newer that i’ve missed out? Sorry haven’t been there to help with the steering issues petewah, i’ll be sure to look into it when i get bak next yr; talldude, JAY-Z, miniking, roedoner, mocky, kevsta….hope everything’s been ok. Have a merry xmas and a happy new year. Damn, everytime Aaron or someone from outta town comes over, i ain’t there 🙁
On the plus side, things are quite cheap in HK and Taiwan….they are mad on Z’s here. The awesome MR02 M3’s and mclarens gt’s are here in abundance, as are mod motors and fets galore. Oh yes, I got a battery mod done on my overland, its now capable of being yoked to a 7.2V Li-on batt. Coupled with a 35T motor, the thing is stupidly fast! Now i know why those with lithium mods are so pleased with the speed increase.
i am also dangerously close to being sucked in by micro RC helicopters….they are cheap here, the 46cm ESKY Honeybee is only $200 au…..yow…..
-
December 20, 2004 at 2:11 pm #23521
WAY too hot yesterday… we were mad to stay down there that long. Good to hear from you again Geo, hope everything’s cool. They got the slk55 amg (for ’02 chassis; mid mount) over there? Dribble… Nice looking shell

-
December 20, 2004 at 9:04 pm #23508
they wont allow a serious 1/10 group down there… those courts are there for the netballers, funded by the netballers, etc. We get told to move, we move, if we want to run there again. As for the drags, I stand by my maybe. rtr eh? Good to see im not the only Z collector left in Sydney. Unless you’re going to run it. it will be :dead: in no time… best to keep it on the shelf so it’s always there to 😀 at and :approve: of… lol

Cheers Aaron,
Cant wait but i guess you know this ! ! !As for the batts,
More you buy the cheeper they are, So i jumped at the fact…
These Powertech 900s give my car more punch than the 800s i have used in the past, and not that i’ve used other cells like sanyo’s before, Its time now to sorce a set…
Sony/Sanyo 900s for $18.00 a 4pack, and i will get 2 packs.
Not that it would matter which one’s, they come out of the same factory as they are the same battery, diffrent colour’s.
And yes i have a charger that can charge 10 at a time…Edited by – peteWah on 17 January 2005 18:52:13

Mocky,
It’s got the aluminium steering set, evo 3 light weight shaft, ssg centre plate underneath. Also running f201 high speed gear set with 28 tooth pinion.
Good for running in novice and stock class I think.

LOL, the tb-02 gearing doesn’t stop there either, you can go even higher to a 49T Spur gear and a 31T pinion gear to get a ratio of 4.12
😀

Friday nights dude… usually there is only 5-6 Minis racing… including a Aust. (world?) champion… and he’s damn good. Awesome to watch them racing as accidents are rare, and they can gt them back on their wheels without aid of marshalls… what’s happened to your Z mate? Hope it’s nothing too serious…

April 4, 2005 at 8:32 pm #20758
Yes well hmmmmm, Bad day for me you could say…
My focus (50+ + car) went on a 16 metre rolling frenzy and stopped dead, Not me driving it though…A friend of mine did that so i fixed it today…all is good…and and,
My nelly (60+ + car) had issues before it even started ripping it up due to the motor terminal decideing to snap of completely
Now fixed but i dont want to ever do a solder fix like that again for Gods Sake…And my stock car is having a major problem to which im pulling my hair out >(of which there is alot of)
With a stock motor i have no reverse but ok going forwards and with another motor that i made which had a stock armiture with a bb case dose the complete oppisite…
What have i burnt out ?????:8ball::question:Any comments will be welcomed!!!
Will be roaring down the park next week for shaw…
:smiley2::D:D:p:approve::smiley2: -
April 4, 2005 at 9:33 pm #20757
simple answer, try pn s05 maybe that will yield great results. but honestly it may be the contacts to the brushes to comm u should be checkin out.
-
April 5, 2005 at 12:38 am #38893
hey pete you still runing that high mount thing for the focus?
if you are i got a high mount friction damper which could fit might improve handling, worth a shot i reckon.
i would love to see a s05 in action heared alot of things about em, who will be willing to buy one then?
hopefully i should be there this sunday i will confirm closer to the day, plus i still got some surprises. 😀
-
April 5, 2005 at 4:45 am #20717
Yep TD,
As for the high mount friction damper,
How much do you want to part with it And….A PnS05 was what i was getting for the particular car in question….And still getting:approve:
But not to sure about my stock car atm,
The problem seems Terminal… No sound no responceMocky,
I dont think its a brush to comm contact problem either,
The motor i made was nothing special, tWas just a stock armiture with a bb case, So whats the go because its died like a iWaver ,Quickly 👿Finally,
The stack with the focus was the BIGGEST Z crash my car has ever had and ohh so Funny it was as well,Spinning and tumbling across the court
Its came to a rest with the chassis landing on its wheels and the shell sitting next to it after the car had rolled for 16 metres And was dead, Then began the slow walk to check the damage, All its problems are now fixed:D:p:smiley2:How i like that iWosho Focus:smiley2: ph2t and others> Will know what i mean by that:D
I Hope Sunday is on for next week Peoples:smiley2:

April 6, 2005 at 7:55 pm #20721
Okay, 12.30 – 1pm it is.
As for the iwaver blowing up, could it have been due to bad meshing ?
-
April 6, 2005 at 8:43 pm #20722
could be because it is a iwaver 😀
those motors are a bit too much for an iwaver me thinks

April 8, 2005 at 2:40 am #20532
iWaver FETs are no worse than Kyosho – the iWaver x-Speeds (Not PRO) are a very mixed bag though. I wouldn’t put an X-Speed in anything from either Kyosho OR iWaver without expecting to pop a FET sooner or later.
Even whacking in a single (non stacked) IRF7317 or SI4562DY is a definate improvement in durability and a minor performance improvement.
I’m finiding 2×2 stacks are great for warm motors and all round driving.
Remember a stock motor will blow FETs if you load it up too hard, This is actually part of the Dyno Design challenge. More on that later….

10/04/05
They keep breaking And i keep fixing them:smiley2:I smashed into TD’s Foot at high speed blackeye: with the nelly car and not only dislodged both body clips from the Corvette but Smashed the original H plate (Splintered It)
It came with the car when it was sent up from Melbourne, That was a good h plate…!:D:D:smiley2:blackeye:…And again broke the motor terminal of the Nelly, Which is the job i hate fixing most:evil:

Yeah, you got me hard with the mini, I was in pain but lucky no blood, just some minor bruising on the small toe.
Had fun on the day, but brush farm courts are extremely dusty compared to meadowbank.
I’ve changed back to running the silver can for next week man.

well no blood at least.
the surface wasnt that great for mini z’s have to admit that, but now my tamiya mini is runing well.

I can do the motor stuff for you if you don’t want the hassles. Apart from comm cutting, changing brushes & springs, oil bushings, or re shimming it if necessary. I don’t think there’s anything else to do… Big Dave can explain it to you…
Btw.. you running the mini cooper or the tourer on Sunday ?:D

I had gone through 4 sets of batteries and was colling it down before i put the last set in,
Put them in and the motor & steering were twitching like mad…
It dose not have the burnt out electronic smell, no white smoke appeared and there is no interaction between controler and car what so ever, even after trying other crystal sets and another controler…I was even going to swap out the pcb but i would have to take the nelly of also and im not at all wanting to do that job, Plus i dont know if thats the problem….
It’s safe to say,
I have no idear so its time for a tech head to have a look see…(Help ph2t)Its Bacon :smiley2:

To bloody much of it i say…
Got run over with a 1:10 Thrice, 3rd time unlucky…
(Hplate Grrr)
I was running a chassis only which was good and bad i guess… With 1:10’s being able to run straight over the top of you with out breaking bodies is the 1 advantage if you want to call it such…
Funny to see a Z spaaaaat out the back of a 1:10, Sorta…I had a big shunt with Daves AMG to the point that when both cars made contact they left the ground, I broke his shell with my Chassis and he broke my H plate…
Broke two 02 H plates on the day.And we wont forget the bloody kids, Not that they made contact with me in anyway, Poor Dave And Jason got squashed by Indians Bloody…… Grrrrrrrrrrr

May 16, 2005 at 3:44 pm #20168

not happy, Jan… Aaron; pretty as that Supra was, unfortunantly it did not survive yesterday’s incidents… So that Esso i’ll grab this week. For sure. Other carnage? Well, my 02 got grabbed byTWO dogs, my 01 Merc shell is split up the centre, and the Dynacity Supra is DEAD AS. I mean there’s nothing left. Makes me want to cry… On the upside, at least all of our electronics survived. Just, in some cases…
-
May 16, 2005 at 6:52 pm #20156

howd the supra get destroyed? kids?

-
May 16, 2005 at 7:57 pm #20162
Sorry to hear this…
You should havepicked up the kid’s bike and launched it several metres into the air in a fit of rage.. that should make you feel better…
I think the parents should be responsible for the damage that their kids cause. The lack of discipline these days disgusts me…

Sorry Dave,
but you did finish the car of yourself, who blames you after it got the Treatment it did yesterday…My mate Jason continually got His iWaver run over by unsupervised Indian children Not only would they hit it but they would turn around and hit it again if it was offline…
Little Buggers would not leave us alone untill Jason promptly told the parents to keep them away and that there were 20 other courts for them to use
I think Jase was about to Pop big time :dead:1 of Kids sounded like Boomhower of King Of The Hill when he was talking to me to which i replied > Dude all i under stood then was Hay man…:D
Better luck next week, I hope :smiley2:

i was thinking more of sticks chucked into front spokes, but that’s not nice. As for the dicipline… best not to get me started. But i will say that in my young day (lol old foagie term!) it was’nt assault to smack your kid. These days parents can get sued by their offspring for that sort of thing. That’s f*#ked. Whats that expression? Spare the rod, spoil the child? Anyway… Enough of this, i feel 60 years old. Pete; true, but there was’nt much of a job to finish after the days activities. This week, track goes again. At least they wont rideover that… will they? Fingers crossed…

well if they try it will be the last thing they do in there short stupid lives!!!!!!
hope the weathere is nicer this weekend
-
May 17, 2005 at 2:27 pm #20149
I think all we need is pete around to shout the usual ‘Git da faarrk out of here…’ when they venture in too close. That should get the parents attention to keep the kids away…
-
May 17, 2005 at 2:39 pm #20150
…make up a flier…Give it to the child and ask them oh so nicely to go and show mummy and daddy…The flier will read…
…We will demand coverage of ANY damage caused by the actions of ANY child in your care…Please be careful…You have been warned…
…And provide the phone number of a lawyer 😀

May 20, 2005 at 12:39 am #20106
awesome news dave! cant wait to have a lash at some trackwork with some good drivers! i got 5 sets of batts ready to go including some new duracell 750mah from singapore (hope they are good!).
do you guys use foamies on your rides?
what set ups do you run on the track so that its a fair race? all i know is that its stock motor and chassis with a 7tooth pinion. anything else?
i still want to have an open race with whoevers up to it, bring out your best set-ups guys!
-
May 20, 2005 at 1:11 pm #20103
i use foamies sometimes, but mainly go with the rubber, about 20-30 degrees depending on temp. Being that it does’nt come out very often we tend to race what set upwe have on the track, but obviously hard motored stuff with 12+ tooth pinions need not apply! About 8 tooth and stock (or even X speed; there’s enough room…) is fine. An open race would be good though… What time you getting into Sydney Z beam? (unless you already are)
-
May 20, 2005 at 3:13 pm #20096
i’ll be in dural tonight. probably around 8 or 9pm.
having 3 cars means i’ll be able to have a few different set-ups ready to go for sunday.
8 tooth, stock chassis and x-speed sounds good. i can fulfill all those requirements.

cant wait till dave makes modifications to the track when he does it will be mad!!!
all we would need is a timing system i know i know a big ask but we can always dream aye?
-
May 24, 2005 at 12:42 pm #20088

bring the x-speed on T.D. lol
BIG DAVE

Why not settle on one of the FET friendly PN motors? Little more go than an X-Speed without being a silly speed demon that fries everythign 😉

club racing here we come aye lol.
-
May 26, 2005 at 4:23 pm #20075
struth, this is all happening eh? A question; if manual counting, why the laptop? And yes, manual timing is better than no timing at all… looking forward to a bit of timed racing on a Z scale…
-
May 26, 2005 at 6:13 pm #20076
I’m guessing that each car will have a number/colorattached to the antenna and as your car passes the start/finish line, someone yells out there number/colour and the marshall manually hits the appropriate key.
Just hope the laptops rechargeables last for a few hours… my old pentium laptops rechargeables are completely dead.
And guys… I bought a tamiya evo iii surikarn with all the red bling – can’t wait to run it. You guys running brush farm meet ?

May 26, 2005 at 6:50 pm #20070
when do you mean Kev? Might be going this Friday, gotta talk to big Dave about it… would’nt mind a bit of a hack *cough cough… waiting…* around their track before the inter club comp gets there. Need some practice up there i think…
-
May 26, 2005 at 6:51 pm #20071
Best manual timing system I’ve seen ran on one of those handheld PC (technically is was a Psion) with a touch screen. The screen had big buttons for each car that were pressed each tiem the car completed a lap. It then did lap times, lap counts, and all that stuff including beeping like crazy att eh end of the race.
Manual timing like that is not as accurate as an electronic system but usually will give results that are fair and most importantly track lap counts which is often the hardest thing.

Btw what’s ‘hack’ in terms of rc. Is that when you use your car to knock off an opponent intentionally ???

grrr!!!!
the program i have is the shareware allycat!!!! same as used in 1/10th racing but without transponders, IE!!! you have to press the key each time the car goes past! same as the hand held thingy. plus if we have speakers it will call out all the stuff we get in normal races. it is accually a real good program.
yes that is what a hack is kev!!!!
dont think brushnut is on tonight so the hill it is! hope you make it to the club challenge kev, be good to race together. how much did you pick up the evo for?????

Dave, got the evo 3 for $220… came with original box, manual & parts, plus nip hard springs and a-arms plus 3 sets of foamies and 3 sets of takeoff/sorexes plus slightly used alfa body…
Thought it was a bargain really – they used to cost around $570 2 years ago. Main reason for getting this one is that parts are interchangeable with the tb02 and lighter weight.
-
May 27, 2005 at 2:32 pm #20050
man that is a bargain kev! good buy.
and you have lost your hack title dgs, remember!!!
you drove clean last race. no hack for you!!!

1st of June is the deadline I think. I haven’t got my entry in yet but will submit on Monday.
I’m planning on running 540 class with the Daves…
Does anyone know what scrutineering is like ? I can’t remember if the rear spoiler of my 350z is higher than the roof.

May 27, 2005 at 8:53 pm #20033
yeah i guess ill go in it aswell kev should be fun. ill see ya on sunday and see if i can go in with the daves aswell.
hey dave heres a corner idea help to tie down the ends to prevent the whole pvc from moving.
could be ezy to make all you would need is foam from an old packing foam box , use some ripple strip stuff from an old track(i think i still got some left) and just stick her in.
ill try to make some btw what size pvc is the track 22mm or 25mm?? ill give it a go uni is finished and nothing to do.

dude!! Not bad, we used something similar to those yesterday. Works well, plus easy to see(read: avoid)…
-
May 30, 2005 at 4:40 pm #19990
red ellectrical tape stripes/bands woulda helped heaps when i was there to tell the difference between the court markings and the track… cheap and easier than painting it on…
-
May 30, 2005 at 5:39 pm #19987
the end caps which i have (and we used yesterday) are almost the same shape, cut out of 12mm mdf and painting an obnoxious shade of bright orange. Easy to see, but still need to be fixed to the track. Oh, for more time to work on this thing… TD; the pvc I used is 25mm mate.

TD and Kev; 1st was the cut-off for the entries to be in, but i’m sure you can pay on the day, just a bit extra. Or give Jenni Thorne a call and she could take your details (that’s a maybe; not 100% sure about that…)

I’ve pm’d the head SMA guy with my details for entry. So hopefully all goes well, I’ll be seeing you all next Sunday.
-
May 30, 2005 at 8:03 pm #19983
ah, good stuff Kev… hope to see you both there!! Oh, not sure if scrutineering is that harsh, but your car will be weighed for sure. Gotta beover 1530 gramswith transponder. Account for batteries losing a little weight too, they do as they lose charge, but only a tiny bit. Is it possible for you to remove some height off the spoiler if needed?
-
May 30, 2005 at 8:45 pm #19975
Hmm… I’ve checked the height of the spoiler and it appears to be at roof height so I’m hoping it’ll be okay. It’s a hard plastic spoiler so it can’t be shortened.
I hope the scrutineering doesn’t go that far…
Other than that, is it bring your own pit table & chair and powerboard ?

Nice work Pete! I think you’ll enjoy the OL more than the F1, even though the F1 is probably the handling pinnacle of things.

yeah, none of us wound up going… it’seither been too wet, or too windy. On the other hand, the Overland track is growing in size every day, it now takes up 50% of the room when set up. TD; so when you getting your OL?

1 x Steppy (StepFet)
1 x Blobby Cool (Blobby built onto a heatsink)
MI-02 Project chassis assuming I get a little further with the development of it besides just bling Alloy
A assortment of things for me to run 🙂
A couple of cartons of goodies like Pinions, bearings etc etc

will post one up at morning tea dude… i’ve got one in my phone i’m sure… and Aaron has some good camara shots of three OLs and a Monster on the tracks too, so afew pics coming
-
July 4, 2005 at 3:02 pm #19650
ok, I stand corrected… no pics in my phone, but will take a couple tonight and post em up in the morning. The set up is really only corrugated cardboard and gaff tape, with Z boxes etc. to prop it up for differing levels…
-
July 4, 2005 at 6:46 pm #19645
was a good day yesterday, sorry for bailing early but i had all my z’s acting up and i had to do that family thing which i was avoiding(if anyone asks i was at work not playing with z’s)

July 4, 2005 at 10:13 pm #19642
I had a good time as well. It makes a hell of a difference when the track comes out.
Unfortunately, I only brought the fet car and didn’t bring my toolbox, so I was running a 11 tooth pinion on the track. LOL

So when you were at the lights with talldude, did you pull the hand brake up andpress the accelerator ?
I noticed that your rear wheels were spinning but you weren’t going anywhere…
-
July 5, 2005 at 4:30 pm #19637
from the passenger seat, I can tell you there was no forward movement, but i swear it felt as though we were sliding sideways ever so slightly. I think everone at those lights saw wheelspin…
-
July 5, 2005 at 5:12 pm #19638
It was a line lock… foot on brake pedal and about 3/4 throttle… then when the lights went green release brakes and well, nothing but traction problems.
We pretty much had no directional stability until we got to the other side of the intersection. It’s a good trait about the car though, it has avery obvious squirm but it doesn’t tend to fire off in random directions under power.
I couldn’t belive the howl from the Focus tyres 🙂 They sorta barked over the white lines 🙂

my car is a machine (yes handbrake kev) yeah it spins the wheels ezy but only on starts lol.
if i had my datto (which still is in pieces) i would of won lol.
should all meet up reguarly like.
-
July 5, 2005 at 8:17 pm #19631
From behind it looks like both of you were about the sameoff the line and till stopping at the next set of lights with no one gaining. But I guess it was like only 100 metres or so.
TD, you got lsd in the focus right ?
-
July 5, 2005 at 9:15 pm #19620
no i dont man, if i had a better start i would of been in front of Aaron due to the fact that his beast was wheelspinning on 3/4 throtle!!!!! wat a beast he might need wider sticker tirers at the rear to prevent that in the future.
im not gonna mod the focus ive already got an airfliter and induction mod which has rasied the power output by 10kws so i got 106kw instead of 96kw (woohoo not!)
the next car i get will be turbo and awd in maybe 2 or 3 years i hope. (insurance is cheaper then)
so wheres these pics hint hint Aaron lol.
btw how much were those autoscales?

Nah none of those are mine….
My fleet consists of:
- Porsche (japan Built) MR01
- Porsche Concept GT iWaver
- Kyosho Monster
- IW 02 currently being built up
Kitty has a few too, a Skyline MR01 and a IW04 ….
Obviously there’s the 1/10ths, the uRS4 and stuff as well but essentially that’s it.
I’m trying to desperately not buy stuff for me, although the guys can vouch for the amount of ‘stuff’ I carry as stock these days.

Tryign to find a shot of yours that looked good. Of the 100 or so shots I’ve got actualy very few are what i consider ‘good enough’ – I’ts not right to blame the equipment but quite honestly taking R/C photos is really hard to get right 🙂

There are heaps of overlanders in stock, I was only noticing the 4 outside the display cabinet. Inside the display cabinet, probably another 10 or so of them.
I won’t be getting one though. I bought the rc18t for offroading, and I’ve probably only used it 4 times in the past 6 months.
-
July 7, 2005 at 5:20 pm #19585
different type of off-roading though Kev… RC18, MiniT, etc. are out door, OL is more indoor orientated… but of course this you knew… how is the 18 anyway? Why has’nt it had a run down the park yet?
-
July 7, 2005 at 5:35 pm #19586
yeah i have been waiting to see it too….

The rc18t hasn’t had a run for months. Ikeep forgetting to bring it in the last minute rushout the door… to meadowbank. Got to writea reminder note next time.
You can get wheel adapters now that let you mount 1/10 touring car wheels on them now. Ithink the same adapter would work for a mini-t.
BTW… if you’re going down to tempe, they don’t run amb transponders but the KO ones which need to be powered by a wire coming from the receiver. In the last few meets, they didn’t bring any spares so it was manual lap counting for ppl that didn’t have one.
-
July 7, 2005 at 5:50 pm #19574
Get an OL Kev,
You will drive it 4 times a week………
I know i do….And You cant drive the 18T in the house when its raining…..As for the 18T, Next time you know you are going to come over this way > there is a offroad track at North Ryde you could try the car on……
-

Lap count Bit$h required…..
-
July 7, 2005 at 6:19 pm #19578
hmmm. Dunno about this manual lap counting thing…
-
July 7, 2005 at 7:15 pm #19572
I’ve been wanting to go to that North Ryde bleinheim (sp?) park to try out some of those jumps… As for the OL, it’s tempting for $129, but then if I get that, I’ll probably end up stocking every bloody part for it as well, like I’ve done with the mini-zs…
As for manual lap counting… its a number or colour tape is placed on your antenna and as it goes across the finish line, the computer dude presses a key to register your lap – which will be slower than actual, because lots of ppl are two finger typist and finding the key takes a few milliseconds…
-
July 8, 2005 at 1:14 pm #19573
the North Ryde track is awesome, as sson as the servo is back in my mini t i’ll be back up there in a shot

Not payed thats your fault Kev and i wouldn’t
I could have done 7 hours of work payed
The weekend before last/Not just gone i got payed for 10 hours work.
So can 1 understand…..O N
Also, Go and have a look at the end of page 46 To current and it would also suggest that Racing was happening and that my chassis was coming back, SO with the exception of Kevsta who was working, Racing did sound highly likely….

If only it were that simple…what about all the other little details such as….
…blowing up countlessballoons until your jaw locks and tying them up to the walls with out bursting them.
…putting up ‘happy birthday’ decals everywhere…
…organising lollies and sweets take home bags.
…bottles of softdrink and ice in an eski…
…bbq setup and clean
…marinate meats for bbq & cook it.
…paper plates & utensils and cups + garbo bags everywhere
…finger food, chips, cheeses & dips
…birthday cake
…find additional entertainment when madagascar finishes…
…Lock the door to the RC room.
-
July 22, 2005 at 5:20 pm #19345
kev…. we did all that last year, they will get some finger food, and will be doing pass the parcell, and musical chairs. maybe a treasure hunt. also jackson is getting a 4 in 1 hocky, pool, soccer table. cant think of the 4th thing it has. anyway the party will be only the standard 2 hours…… the movie takes up 86 mins….

TA05 ? When did you get that ? Sounds like someone’s going to run TCS !
I wanted to go but the rules say no 27Mhz Futaba transmitters allowed..
-
July 28, 2005 at 6:38 pm #19287

-
August 3, 2005 at 2:10 pm #19211
well the TA-05 went great, second in the B final in stock at the winternats, 5th in the A final in 540 class at the club chalenge best i have done in any big on-road meets.
-
August 3, 2005 at 4:27 pm #19212
That is impressive. Those meets are so competitive.
By the photos of the fairy meadow track, it looks very technical.
-
August 3, 2005 at 4:44 pm #19208

-
August 4, 2005 at 3:11 pm #19181
1540 with GP3300’s and personal transponder.
-
August 4, 2005 at 4:16 pm #19180
have you weighed it with the Sanyo 3000s in it? Sounds like you’d have to add 20gms to it to keep over legal weight…
-
August 5, 2005 at 12:14 pm #19160
dont have 3000’s any moreonly GP3300’s for me

August 8, 2005 at 1:22 pm #19113
I might see what i’m up to this weekend, may be able to make it this time… oh, and damn you two have heavy 1/10s… lol
-
August 8, 2005 at 2:34 pm #19114
Weighed it yesterday, now down to 1560 grams – I think that’s about as light as it will get, apart from getting titantium turn buckles and screws and drilling out the chassis as recommended by the tamiya handbook 2004.
Getting a base model and buying all the hop up options is a very expensive exercise. Next time I’m going for one of the top of the line chassis and be done with it.
-
August 8, 2005 at 3:43 pm #19109
thats not too heavy!!!!
oh and finished 5th at the muchmore masters yesterday, qualified 6th. was a good day, lots of people and racing.
