I there… I’m still waiting to receive the pair of LXX (single speed) that I ordered from Toy East (I expect them on 19/03).:smiley16:
If I don’t have any problems I intend to buy one LXX perfection VI (double speed). Here is my doubt… wich motor is better (more speed and/or torque) to double speed/turbo cars like this one?? 3.8 or 4.2 pro?? And if I do dual-bat mod?
Thanks for the help :smiley2:

a perfection 3.8 is generally better than the 4.2/4.2PRO.
Only on smooth surfaces like polished floors will a 4.2 run faster than a 3.8. 9 times out of 10 though the 3.8 is the better motor.
The 3.8 perfection is one of the best motors out there. It’s as if Perfection use different OEM’s for their motors. ie: the 3.0 and 3.5 are crap motors, the 4.2 & 4.2PRO aren’t too bad but none of them stand up to the torque of the perfection 3.8.
go figure…..

why does everyone say the 4.2s dont have torque? i have one in my FET booster and mine spins wheels on take off!

4.2s have torque, yes. BUT the 3.8’s have MORE torque. Once the racing surface becomes rough, the motor with the higher torque will in the end have a higher top speed. The assumption here is that the two motors have similar RPM’s, ie: a 3.8 and a 4.2.
In the end it’s down to cause and effect, just do it and see what happens….:approve:

Thanxs for all the help :smiley2:
With your info I think 3.8 is the one that fills my needs, great acceleration and cool top speed. I plan to make tracks with lots of turns.
@betty.k: what do you mean? do some perfection motors come with problems? weak torque?

that’s right, sometimes even no torque! most of the perfection motors i’ve bought have been ok just the odd dud. with tomy motors i,ve always had quality

yeah but tomy motors are sooooo static. stop go stop go….. i hate em…… wish they woulduse their knowhow to produce high quality good torque and flowing motors.

what do you mean by static? and every tomy motor i’ve had has never skipped a beat, except that one i tried to hard wire and ended up melting the end cap! doh!:8ball:

Dunno but in my 2-speed Lxx, I had little problems with 4.2, 4.2 Pro and 3.8 motors (using the default speed – non-turbo mode)…
Using a Tomy’s Hard Ribbed tire and Perfection 4.2Pro in “turbo mode” (full speed) I had great results.
Stocks from Lxx SP VI are really good comparing to other Tomy-clones.
By the Way I must do more tests with 3.8 before anything…P.S.: HFi – eu coloquei algumas fotos “l?” da parte de baixo do meu MicroRC para voc? ver…

they dont roll on as well, e.g. on the track when you accelerate along a streight and let go of the button a tomy motor equiped car will come to a stop pretty quickly compared to a clone motor equiped car. a clone yellow motor useally isnt as fast or powerful as a good tomy 3.0 but on the track the clone yellow will outperform the tomy everytime.
this ability to allow momentum after power ceases is really important to corner nicely.
speaking of motors, i found out my favorite combo yesterday.
perfection blue (4.2) bitracer blue gears(7tooth pinion), super bit charge chassis, black supra body + perfection sbcg blue tyres at the front and sbcg blacks on the rear. the thing flys!and the sound it makes is so cool as it winds up to full speed…:evil::evil:
