      no vids yet..

but Friday night racing was excellent..
we fired up the lap timer and it definitely makes it more exciting..

We might put up whiteboard of some sort so we can track our best times and laps.. but other than that we think the software stores all the info anyway.

If this takes off a bit more we can ask the guys to look into hfay (http://hfay.tinyrc.com/) layouts so we can track our own best times and go from there.. 🙂

well that was a blast, first time i’ve ever raced with more than 3 people let alone raced with a proper lap counting system!

they had cool little transponders and everything. as usual ph2t spent more time on the workbench than the track! 😆

i spent some time finalising my rubber preference, finished up using 10 degree atomic tyres all ’round and they worked out fine.
as everyone else was running atomic stock motors me an’ ph2t bought 1 each

i gotta say they’re a lot hotter than the name suggests!

here’s a pic of the chassis with transponder attached

and i shot some crappy cellphone vid too

hiya adrian, i’m trent. the other white feller with the red mclaren mr02.

ph2t was the big greek guy that kept losing his tyre every couple of laps!:D

i’m not 100% sure if i can make it this friday as i may be away but i’ll definately be back to get beaten by wing wong again!;) :8ball:

twas fantastic to see the turnout last Friday.. great racing atmosphere.
I think we had up to 6 cars on the track at one stage..

My new best lap is 5.00 done on fresh batteries.. now the next challenge is to join the under 5 sec club currently only Wing Wong is a member!

Adrian managed to pull a best lap of 5.31sec on his first attempt in his MR01!

Adrian, i’m the Wing that told you about ausmicro 🙂
We had a few more races with the timing system which is great fun

ph2t, where is your video?? looking forward to see it!

      whose up for this friday?

i lashed out and bought an iw02m for my girlfriend’s son to race with.
i also bought a ball diff, bearings, a cf top plate and steve generously threw in a full set of atomic 10deg tyres.

the quality is really good with all the stock and hopup parts, the only exception being the wheels which were a little wobbly. so i just used a set of kyosho rims from an autoscale body set.

electronically it’s rock solid, no jittery steering and a decent radio to boot! can’t wait to do some test laps on the track! :8ball:

fastest lap time I think is 4.5seconds.. I think its been done twice now.
If i remember correctly it was 64 laps in 5 minutes!! and I think that record was set on Feb 14..

hmm… i reckon they should have a plaque or something for that… or maybe something like the “best times” board on Top Gear! :smiley16:

back in melbourne now.. well.. that pic was taken on my first day in tokyo.. way back on March 16th..
I just wanted to get my bearings and find the place so if I couldn’t find any hobby shops i’d goto kyosho themselves..

since it was the first day i was a good boy… i walked in and out of that place without any dents in my pocket at all…. i just didn’t want to lug everything around the place for 2 weeks…

anyway.. shopping day was the last day in Tokyo.. that was Friday 27th of March.. I will never forget that day.. i picked up a few goodies… well.. maybe more than a few… i think smoke coming out of my pockets would be a complete understatement!
      will post pics soon..

Guys.. if your in Melbourne.. drag your bum down this friday night for a race meet! I’m itching to get back on the track!

personally I’ve only seen mini-Z and Iwaver… but they do have micro scale, the Q-steer, 1:10 amongst other things in the shop… come down the next time your in Melb cos it will be hard to leave that place empty handed.. and I think betty.k will agree!

Whose coming down this Friday for some racing? I’ll be there cos my ‘cars’ just went in for a service! :p

probably the micro t, the shorter wheelbase would suit track conditions better :8ball:

Yer that is probaly the better chioce, also on most of the websites I have checked out sell the micro t for about $10us less.
Now for the frustrating part, waiting for the exchange rate to get back up to the 80-85c mark lol.

      just an fyi..
the track at gigspeed is getting an upgrade so its closed till 6th July.. the shop is still open though!
the track is being put on a raised platform, the straight is being made wider and longer so we can scream down the straight 🙂

Do give them a buzz if you do plan to visit on Friday nights cos they’ll probably lock up at 5pm otherwise…
We’ll definitely organise a meetup of some sort once the updated track is ready….

Glad to hear Mini-Z enthusiasm is still alive and well down under. I learned most of what I know about FETs, external turbos, uberdashes and plasma dashes from the guys there. That was when I was still playing with XMODS. I’m almost done with the last of them (still 5 more to sell), as I am now exclusively into Mini-Zs. I have an RCP track at home, but there is a track at a LHS about an hour from my home and I’ve been to race a few times on Thursdays. Loads of fun!

If I ever make it to Aus, I’ll be sure to make time to check out the Mini-Z scene.

      Enjoy!

      Hi guys,

I am thinking to revive mini z community again in Melbourne, I live in box hill, however since rent is expensive in Box hill, i happen to secure a cheaper one in Springvale. I am thinking to buy mini z race track 50x50cm tiles total size 10 x 5 Meters, What do you guys think about racing Mini-Z again nowdays?

      Regards,
      Christopher
