High noon to you all
Can any of the moderators get all this crap that is filling the forums deleted ? If not give me some moderator access and I will keep on top of all this shite filling the sites front page and forums
This is one of the sites I check every morning with my coffee and several times during the course of the day / night, so I can keep it sorted.
United we stand!!!!! 🙂

was the serious drinking due to the spam ? 🙂
yeah it drives me up the wall.
Id love to find the companies behind it all, walk in the front door and burn the place to the ground. ok maybe thats a little extreme, at least smash a few computers up and kick some knees.
grrrrr spam, just leave the shit in a tin and we will all be happy

the spam is horrible.
can we get a ban on the current offenders and add a simple check to new members like some basic hobby knowledge? or even a basic application process where a prospective new member must get approved?

somehow the spambots have found a vulnerability thru the usual captcha etc 🙁
we’re busy shovelling… hell, my DELETE button is looking overworked
-
October 13, 2008 at 6:01 am #61963
finally all this spam is over
how did the bots get in -
October 13, 2008 at 1:35 pm #61755
oh no the spamming is NOT over… 🙁 … we’re just in here every hr zapping the crap!!
-
October 14, 2008 at 7:37 am #61726

October 14, 2008 at 2:22 pm #61757
nup 🙁
just zapped another 2, banned the serial spammer “JohnIS” and pruned 90 spam threads… which would be from the past 24 hrs alone as i did the same thing last nite
i hear most vB boards world around are getting hit bad too; many have resorted to banning newjoiners from starting new threads etc etc
until they’ve had 5 posts etc etc (excellent idea imho)or some others are counting the time between signup & making new thread
and disallowing (or insta-ban!) those logins that don’t wait long enough -
October 15, 2008 at 5:37 am #61965
surely whoever is hosting the msg boards can add a filter of some sort?
-
October 15, 2008 at 5:49 am #61954
i haven’t got the keys to the admin bathroom i’m afraid 🙁
we’ve already got the captcha etc… but i dunno what/how the spammers are getting thru
it could just be someone physically typing in logins; these days you can hire
droids to do it for like 2c each and they’d process 200 per hr -
October 15, 2008 at 5:56 am #61955
crap from the time it took me to read thins thread to logging in 1 spam message was posted
ps cant u block ips -
October 15, 2008 at 6:04 am #61956
need the vB admin dashboard to block IPs 🙁 and they’re coming from a bunch of different ones too
over at AUSRC which uses vB too, we’ve put in a custom “One Touch Clean & Ban” button which is fantastically powerful… it nukes all the spammer’s posts, bans the login AND the IP… how good is that?! 😀
-
October 15, 2008 at 6:13 am #61957
lets get that over here
but if the spamers were smart and use static IPs it would be useless -
October 15, 2008 at 10:43 am #61958
yea unfortunately they are all logging in from different IPs so that ain’t much use, only occasionally multiple signups from same IP
-
October 15, 2008 at 2:22 pm #61960
theres 2 more that came in tonight… gizmodo (a tech blog) posted a big spam ring was shut down today but who knows if they busted those targeting ausmicro.
-
October 15, 2008 at 11:41 pm #61902
wow… they actually had the backend to take your $$ and send you goods?!
(me thought they just TOOK your $$ and that’s it 🙂 )
nah the spambots still ain’t ceasing

cant we give a few more people the power to delete posts?
united we stand, divided we fall
I just dont want to see this site fall on the way side as its what go me going in micro rc
email the host panda and tell them its out of control. Or you could give me there email and i will demonstrate a rather restrained letter outlining the problem 🙂
if there is one thing I hate more than people who do not keep left unless overtaking its this crap
-
October 16, 2008 at 2:33 am #61893
i ain’t admin here bro 🙂 its aaron
no idea who’s hosting but even if we do, its not their business to do anything
deleting posts alone don’t stop them coming back,
neither will banning IPs if they keep using different onesthe multiple spamposters i’ve been banning their logins too but its just too
many to do the single posters… lucky most don’t post more than once per login anywayi’ve been looking into the logins… looks like all of them have got timezome GMT-12hrs haha
but they’re definitely getting past the captcha and stuff… so it could be human doing it

October 16, 2008 at 2:36 am #61894
btw they’re getting a bit smarter too…
zapped a thread that nearly looked legit 🙂
