      Hey guys,

I got an Overland today (second hand, I think I bought it off “talltude”)anyway there seems to be some demons in it.

The servo is forever twitching, especially when at idle (do I do what is in that sticky above??) and it doesn’t want to turn left properly.

If you go to turn left it will either not do anything (wheels with turn but no acceleration) or it will go in reverse and do reverse donuts, or the wheels will turn to the right and it’ll take off on me.

      Anyone got any ideas?

Also, how long run time should I get with a set of AAA’s?

it could be the steering trimpot, try cleaning it out with some electrical contact cleaner like crc.

Check that the antenna on the car is screwed down properly making good contact with the antenna wire from the pcb.

Check that your motor has the capacitors on the terminals to reduce interference.

Check that your transmitter/radio has batteries.

Check that radio crystals are plugged in correctly and try a different 27mhz set if you’ve got some spare.

Open up the servo box and check to see if all the servo gears are clean and that no gear teeth broken and no binding.

When working on the car, make sure you switch off, and take all batteries out of the car.

Are you using the KT5 that comes with overlanders or your own radio ?

      Just the stock radio.

I now the batteries are fine.

I put the antenna on the way the book says too, and double checked it.

Crystals are in properly (don’t have any spares).

Opened the servo and everything seemed fine.

It’s frustrating… maybe I should take it a way away and try it,maybe it’s just interfering with something at home?

got any wireless tech in your house?

or live really close to neighbors?

my old cordless phone glitched out my z’s even though the frequencies were very far apart.
