      Easter Monday 12th April.

Let’s go invade the Templestowe Fast Track Racers track!! 🙂

Its at the Porter St Templestowe reserve (next to the oval, opposite the tennis courts), Templestowe. Melways pg 33 grid G4.

      Something I’ve been wondering… how long it’ll take a
BCG to do a lap of the TFTR track. Lets find out! :p

Track is HUGE for 1/10, even by Australian standards.
      Average lap is around 20s.

      Quote:

Sorry folks, I did post on Jamie’s other thread that
we cannot run nitro at TFTR so pls don’t bring them.

There’s a narky neighbour nearby who will rat TFTR to the council
at every indiscretion, and the council will have no hesitation to
shut TFTR down when they get tired of too many complaints. :dead:

The track is only 10′ from nearest house fence, so fair enough.
Some of the residents have been living there far longer than
the facility, even if the track has been there since 1980s.

:Di’m guessing the biggest problem will be range! at least i’ll be easy to spot, i’ll be the guy running around the track trying to stay in range!! oh and for those complete dummies (me) that don’t know, what’s TFTR?:8ball:

yeah, Panda, what kinda surface is it? when u mean 20s, what speed does the cars run? i don’t have many things to bring(actully i’m trying not to embarass myself on the day with my slow near-stock cars, but i’m goin just to see jamie’s 84km/h miniZ.
We should make a start time at least, how about 11am. u don’t have to be here by that time, but there will be some people there(i hope).

Surface is tarmac, lovely smooth tarmac.
Sponge is great although rubber works well too.

You guys might want to consider lunch beforehand,
as there’s nothing to eat nearby. Unless someone
offers to organise a BBQ or something… :smiley2:

In which case, 11:00 is good! 🙂

This news is music to my ears….i had a set of GPM foams And a set of GPM rubbers ready to go on, so on with the foamies!

Leon, don’t get too excited, remember its only 84km/h on the speed checker….the ground speed is a bit less, but still quite quick.

i asked a guy who used to race on that track. He said a 1/10 car with speed of about 50kph does 18s laps. So ur Z can do even faster! the track is very big so it’s not challenging. But i’m sure we’ll have fun. So anyone gonna bring a Lap Timer?

well what a day!:p we had a good turnout today with ph2t, leonli, jamiekulhanek, pork hunt, pandabear and myself all making an appearance. lots of action with a group of 1/10 scale guys showing us how it’s done! it was great for me as this was the first time i’d seen a z let alone 1/10’s and rs4’s in action. there were many spectacular disasters, jamie hadn’t gone half a lap before slamming headfirst into a barrier! he was good at sending bits of z in the air!:D
i shoulda left the ramps at home. then ph2t wouldn’t have hit one at 30k’s and broken his new damper mount on the landing!:dead:
panda’s tamiya mini’s copped a beating but held together well and are heaps of fun to drive. the 1/10 with pvc pipe for tyres was a pisser to watch, like driving on ice! and the race cam footage is insane!
i managed a couple of laps with my fastest bit and as i expected i had to follow it around to stay in range! i think i managed to post 1 minute laps! plenty more going on but i’ll leave it to the others. oh and i saw jamies car hit at LEAST 60kph on the straight! i saw it hit a lot of other things too!:D
i’ve put some pics in a webshots folder here http://community.webshots.com/album/133445561qFyCtw:8ball:

yeah, i noticed that too. perhaps mount the extra batts on the front somewhere (diffucult) or some sort of fin/spoiler on the front. i realised very quickly on the day why 1:10’s are mostly 4wd. without it they’d never make it around the track at the speeds they do:8ball:

nup! Those are just the touring cars, 4WD = easier to drive.

TFTR used to race RWD F1 (b4 Tamiya spoilt the party with 4WD F201)
… they go quicker than the TCs, but they need a lot more skill to stay on the track. There’s also the 1/12ths and the Pro10s which are
always pan cars with direct-drive transmissions – very efficient!

At Velodrome the Pro10s got their own class… as they’d have
embarassed all the mod TCs. :p

But RWD pan cars have all fallen from popularity as newbies don’t
have the skill to drive them anymore these days nor do they
      have the patience to learn.
