El cheapo lay down crystal mod

      Heres a cheap fix to get your crystal lower so you can fit some of the low bodies to your AWD. If you stuff it up, it’l only cost you another crystal,not a whole circuit board if you try to remove the crystal holder. I used the copper out of some heavy house hold electrical wire and soldered it at right angles to the bottom of the crystal. I used a pair of locking pliers as a heatsink. Then just grind the top of the cover and make 2 verical slots so the legs of the crystal are supported. Works a treat.

      Hardwiring the xtal can make it a pain to change…

      hope ya guys know you can buy “xtal xtenders” from LHS, the plane guys sometimes use them.

      Or you can buy xtal female sockets from Jaycar (I think). I bought them some yrs ago, they probably still stock them.
