I am out of ideas. I just finished my first internal dual cell car and it isn’t working. I have double checked my wiring and it’s ok. I checked the insulator between the first cell and the positive batt tab.
When it’s on the charger it screams, off the charger, nothing. Could the cells be bad? -

do you have a custom charger? you need to charge a dual cell of four AAs in series.. the standard controller charger wont provide enough power to juice your beast…

This is actually my third dual cell mod. I have also built a tri cell dual motor Toyota BB. My custom charger has 4AA’s.
I went through the car again, and still can’t find the problem. -

did you check that the cells are charging with a multimeter? maybe there is a shorts somewhere thats draining the batteries?

Sounds like a connection problem between the charging contacts and the battery. Check these.
When its not on the charger, do you have any voltage on the charging contacts under the car, because you should have. Check the batteries directly with a multimeter to see if there is any voltage on them.
If there is voltage on the batteries but not on the contacts, then your problem is somewhere in there.

As far as the connection goes, the positive end of the cars battery is making good contact with the charging tab. The negative end has an insulator between the cell and the charging tab. The cells are wired in series, like I’ve done to all my dual cell cars. I just can’t seem to wrap my mind around the fact that nothing I have done is working.
Oh well…… -

some thing in side is shorting the curcuit. sounds like a direct connection is happening on the charger.
when you say it “screams” do you mean when you give a signal to scream or is it just going off?

maybe the cells are in backwards? and its only getting power from the charger and the cells are not taking chage because the wires are mixed up…
