HELP ME, i made a set of underbody neons for my mini z and while putting my car together i shorted the power against the aerial, which made smoke pour out of my car. I opened the car and found tha the little chip capacitor on the circuit board connected to the antenna wire had fizzled. The car still works fine, which rules out blown transistors, but the range has decreased from 100+ metres to about 3 metres .

I looked for a code on the little capacitor thing, but it was fizzled and fried and im not sure if it had a code to begin with.
If anybody knows the part or can test the capacitance please help me!!!!

Might be a capacitor, might also be an RF inductor of sorts… (after that, that’s when I fell asleep in physics class, sorry :))

i am pretty sure it is a capacitor, cause an rf inductor wouldnt smoke like that i dont think.

I really want to fix this as a replacement board will cost approx $100.

Jamie – I’d pop mine apart and snap a phot but it’s packed while I move….

Will try to do it over the weekend 😉
