Hi guys, can anyone help? Here s my story; saw Iwaver 02 on Toyeast website $49.90 plus express shipping $90 (about ?47) had to have one! Four days later bingo I had it! Well pleased- great car with good performance and awesome transmitter. Next step- start dreaming about upgrades, Ford Focus shell, ball diff, bearings etc. Then I decided to fit a nicad pack in the transmitter, which I already had in my futaba four channel transmitter. Then fizz, smoke, dead transmitter. What a dipstick!- I didn t check the polarity of the two pin plug on the nicad pack and it was the opposite way round.
When I finally stopped kicking myself I decided to open up the transmitter and see what damage I had done, it was soon obvoius that I had, ahem, slightly modified a transistor on the board nearest the crystal. My problem is that I cannot read the part number/ spec of this component to try and find a replacement. Is anyone out there with one of these willing to open it up and have a look for me please? Any help would be massively appreciated. I have taken a couple of photos to try to show the specific component.

Thanks Priest, that is excellent.
“May your diff remain ever lubed and your ballraces shiny.”
P.S. I will post when I manage to source a replacement just in case anyone else is as stupid as me!
Thanks,
Martw.

Hi, martw
I just had the exactly same problem as you on Iwaver transmitter. I put the Futaba battery pack without checking polarity and blowed up the 1702N transister.I admit my mistake, but they should not use Futaba connecter and switch the polarity, I guess.
I tried to replace 1702N with a NPN transister and changed all the chemical capacitors, but still have no luck yet.
