The Question: Is it any good?
The Answer:
Based on the parts we’ve installed on our test Bigfoot (original release IW04) the answer is an emphatic yes. IWaver Alloy parts are a great value part that really does make your truck tougher! Unlike some more expensive aftermarket parts the iWaver pieces are generally well finished with clean threads, excellent anodising and a equal-to-the-best fit.

I’ll give them an emphatic thumbs up, for the price they are nice pieces. The Suspension mounts for example give you three height positions for about 10mm of height adjustment. Very important for tidying up the handling!

So far we’ve installed:

[*]iWaver Alloy Front Suspension Mounts
[*]iWaver Alloy Rear Suspension Mounts
[*]iWaver Alloy Battery Clips
[*]iWaver Alloy Motor Clip
[*]Alloy Steering Knuckles
[*]Stainless Steel front kingpins
[*]Ball Bearings to wheels only.
[*]Kyosho X-Speed running off a IRF7317 3×2 Stack
The truck is also running a Mini-Q body modified to fit. Sits a little lower than the Kyosho/Firelap hardbodies, but overall it’s a great combo. Pics to come!

sweetness. I can’t believe I blew $60 on kyosho-brand damper mounts when I could have had iwaver alloy for $20. =(

Looks great Aaron !!! clap.gif

Question for you !! The two little screws that come with each shock mount, were they long enough to mount the shocks correctly ??mine were only about 2 or 3threads longer then the thickness of the shock at the top so I had to change them !!!

They are a bit short I agree and an e-mail was sent to iWaver to let them know that we felt the screws were too short.

I’ve used the shorter screws and so far we’ve not had any problems so it could be the length is just fine.

I used them at first too, but one did come out after a slight mishap and wouldn’t catch the threads anymore… So I changed them all to longer ones, hopefully it wont happen again.. Both thescrew coming out and me hitting the door frame !!! blush.gif

*laughs* Not as bad as another customer who nailed the truck directly into a kerb and prtty much shattered the front end!

I’m keeping a close eye on our test truck but so far all good. More alloy ariving for it this week (bumper, wheelie bar and wheels)

Also goign to finally re-bearing it in the next couple of days to test that bearing fit issue.

What amazes me with he iWaver alloy is the quality. The fit and finish is better than every GPM alloy part I’ve handled. Some of the prices aren’t that crash hot, but TE are dumping it real cheap on ebay much to me own personal dissappointment beucase they’re undercutting the low volume wholesale price….

But I’m lookign at doing some of those ‘all the alloy 14 part sets’ for like AUD$120-150 in the shop which is just unreal value. We shall see though.

The alloy is definately good enough, and the price is awesome. We will be moving to stock the ‘Alloy Everything’ kits in the future if TE continues to make them available.

Installed the IW04/MZM Wheelie bar and front bumper last night. Also did some testing with the bearings in the gear case…. Bad news is I discovered a crack in the tie-rod so I guess we’ll have to alloy that as well!

Those kits do look good !!! The price is awesome…

Aaron, What was the verdict with the two littlebearings in the gear case ??

FYI !!!Anyonethatuses the alloy tie-rod, also replace thefront knuckles with alloy too… Aaron, I know you’ve already done this… I haven’t yet andthe pins on my knuckles are already showing signs of snapping off…..So far (touch wood) I’ve only hit one thing with one front wheel and both pins have white stress marks on them !!!!!!

All I’ve had to do witht hebearings is flick out the little plastic bushes that normally reside on the axle of the idler gear, then pop the bearings onto either side of the idler gear and reassemble. The fit in the gearbox cover is not too flash but I think that’s the plastic moulding not the bearing.

while the bearings look different they are the same also..
