Lap Timer for R/C cars?

I’m looking for a way to record lap times of my Mini-Z’s around my track.

Does anyone know of a solution that can record each individual cars lap time?
After some online searches I have only found 2 options.
(1 very expensive and 1 very cheap)

There is an interesting idea of using electrical tape applied to the R/C cars antenna at different heights. The idea being that the light source of the counter will only be triggered by the car’s antenna that matches the fixed height…

Does anyone else out there have any other ideas or know of any suitable R/C lap timing products?

Found the perfect solution for lap timing R/C cars!

After Googling for “Transponders” the following company appears (with no Australian distributors listed)

there’s now a Mini-Z IC Tag so you can use the Kyosho IC Tag Lap Counter for Mini-Z and dNaNo 😀 … both are available at NanoTrax 😉
