I just took the gears (original orange Tomy), Perfection 4.2 motor, and rear axle out of my beaten up Tomy CCG and put them into a new LXX Super Perfection. The LXX goes nowhere near as fast as the Tomy did. None of my LXXs even get close to matching the Tomy using the same gears/motor.

      Is this a pcb thing?

Most likely yes. They use different transisitors.

Kero, were you in “perm boost mode” ie: running at full speed?

Yeah, I had it in ‘perm boost’ (sounds like 80s hairspray).
