thats speddy is for 1:18 even a low rated 540 motor will blow it
as for RX/servo its about the same to get a whole new kit so ya get a new transmitter (better than what u would be using with these).. i would suggets somthing like http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXENN3**&P=0
is a very good radio for beginners and intermadiate racing..
as for that motor.. well i wouldnt touch a motor that isnt rebuildable.. if ya gonna race ur gonna probly need a 540 silver can to start with and then get a stock (27T) motor when u go up a class.. but 5430pro istons fast enough for ur first 8 months – year if you are bashing i would suggest http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCUP8&P=7

      or check this out 😀

this is wat ive found .also on the intruction manual it says its for a 1/10. so im a bit confused bout that novak esc.
also im afta 27mhz am receiver, prefer not to ship in a whole controller.

ive got this esc in mind
      http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAXT8&P=7
      or this one
      http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHSV8&P=7
, will it work with 27mhz am receivers?

mocky. personly i think ur doing it the hard and more expensive method.. but its your money
.. the novak XRS is reated to 40 amps a cheap 1:10 esc is rated 200 amps it would only handle silver can or sport tuned motors

as for radio gear why do you want to buy a RX and servo seperatly?
that servo is only .01 seconds faster so not really any better than a S3003 and both will break just as easly (never if your running a good servo saver)

maybe u should look at sumthign like this:
      http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBJA6**&P=0

      100 USD

if you just bought a RX and servo what TX would u run?

i’m assuming you want to use your i waver tx, and that’s why you want a seperate rx and servo. there’s nothing wrong with that really, i did.
i’ve been abusing a futaba s3003 for a while now and it holds up fine, maybe a little slow. i’t currently in my monster and serves me well.
but when it comes to an esc, spend as much as you can. when you’re new you make lots of mistakes that can fry even a good esc. i killed my first esc by using throttle when there was a rock in the belt and it was rated at 240a continuous, 940a peak. so that esc you’re looking at will probably pop the first time you touch the throttle!:8ball:

yeah.. if ur gonnna use a IW TX well.. enjoy. buy a 27megAM RX.. smaller is better.. futaba or Jr are good and a 3003 is good if ya wnat better get a hitec cheap and faster
get a GOOD speedy best u can budget

well afta calculating it will cost me 20usd more if i buy a radio receiver and servo pack BUT i get a new tx which is always handy if one breaks.
that novak esc im not getting afta hearing bout wat u guys have said beta safe than sorry.
rite now its a battle between the nocak explorerII or the futaba MC330CR or associated a.i automatic super esc. which one would be the best and safest choice? mines a tb02 so i wont get stuff stuck in the belt.

it’s only been about 3 or 4 months since i got my first 1:10 and lemme tell ya, if i knew then what i know now i would have bought a brushless setup at the beginning. they sure look expensive to a new feller but after wearing out 3 motors (3 x $60) and zillions of brushes they don’t looks so expensive any more!
just get an esc with the highest current rating you can afford. and don’t forget to check if it has the features you want (brake, reverse, have kettle boiled in time for end of race!:smiley2:):8ball:

lolz, i aint gonna be a hardcore racer and kill a motor per run. and brushless is way outta my price range atm.
from wat it looks like now i’ll have nearly the same setup up as kevsta had.

Novak XRS is made for 1/10, it’ll take anything down to 15turn motor.
Its about the same (specs & target market) as a Futaba 230 or 330.

Disregard all the current amperage ratings; each ESC mfgr has their
own way of calculating the ratings and even Novak has *changed*
their methodology in recent times – don’t even compare ‘old’ specs
to the current Novak specs. :dead:

What I always thought strange was ESC makers say somethign is good for XX Turns, but knowning the there’s other factors in play the ESC may not handle a brand X 12turn vs a Brand Y 12turn.

I tend to think you’d pick an ESC rating these days by like buying a 14turn friendly ESC and only running down to 16 or 18T… Margin for error 🙂

I’ve always been happy with the low end GM V4Rs but I’m not a mad keen racer, just a hack around typa guy ….
