What size is that, 1/10?
Have got DIY version running, been to track twice
but am waiting for a clear sunny summer day to do
some real filming. All footage to date is spoilt
by the huge long shadows in the corners. blackeye: -

Heres some info I found on this baby,
They are out of stock but were selling for GBP300, thats AU$726, ouch.An LCD full colour display shows you where you are driving. Experience the rally as if you were actually sitting behind the wheel. Drive your own race through your living, trying to follow the perfect line as you steer the car towards the kitchen. Getting too dark to race ? No problem! Switch on your head lights with the button on the remote and the Turbo switch gives you that extra speed you require.
Also, great for driving around the office, looking up all the girls skirts…

It’s a 1/16 scale car….not the best performer but hey….innovative.
I reckon i could do this, quite cheaply too, http://www.oatleyelectronics.com.au has all the bits you need.

range is a bit poor, probably the main reason why id do it, youd want atleast 100m range or so for that kind of price, reckon it would be easy to up the range on it??

Nah, no way anyone in Oz can offer cheaper 👿 on these things:
Had one of those for 6+ mths, it works surprisingly well.
Receiver on that is straight AV (composite) out, so you
can do anything you like with the video feed. -

I wonder if that camera could be pulled apart and spread out in a BCG? it would definately fit in a MiniZ by the looks of it.

I rekon it would be a dead loss trying to disassemble it.
DGS i haven’t got the faintest idea whatr u are talking about.

you’re too young to remember, Jamie. Weird 80’s movie, one scene involved the use of a video camera strapped to the tray of a 1/10 truck. Amusing, but the point has now been missed

There would be no point in pulling it apart… all it is in the
little case is the camera/sensor on a little circuit board.
You can’t lose the case as you need something to hold the lens,
and its already as small as it can be.Camera also needs a power source… mine sucks 200mA @ 8V.
You can run it off a 9V battery if you’re feeling rich
or have shares in Duracell, but the battery will be bigger
than your BCG.Ignoring the battery… the camera will also
double the WEIGHT of your BCG.We’re already having trouble with the extra weight in a 1/10.
The camera equipped car firstly can’t corner as quick (rollover),
and it puts extra strain on the motor. So the camera car keeps
getting overtaken on the track as its only running at 80-90% pace.Soon getting rectified with “more power”, but hey…

Panda do you have any idea what the camera & battery setup actually weighs? (grams?)

Camera weighs about 20g… probably 1/2 of that is due to the big fat 2.5mm DC plug that is attached to it. If you replaced it with something smaller or hardwired the battery perhaps you could halve the weight.
Power requirement is 8V, it seems to draw about 150-200mAh. From a 9V alkaline, sucked it nearly dry in about 1/2 hr – expensive. I’ve been running it off 6xAAs for a bit more life.

Sorry Guys, I’m a bit late into this thread, just picked up on it.
dgs73 – Malcolm – A remote control comedy.
A classic movie – I haven’t worked out out to mount my 12 guage on my BCG, but I’m getting close. 🙂$700aus+ … ouch !!! I will have to give the nikko shop a call and see what the real price is.
Panda and uA, The cameras are really small, and really light, and powering them is very easy.
I used three lithiums piggy backed on my tank with the turret removed. I actually got the idea from one of the guys who sells the mini wireless cameras in Hong Kong. He actually has a small track car doing loops on a track carrying the camera and displaying it on a small LCD screen.
By the way, the little wireless cameras only cost $50 in hong kong, and the mini 1 inch LCD
screens are only $100. There is heaps of variety,
basically a camera to suit every need. The only problem with the BCG is the range is terrible. The camera is quite capable of transmitting well over 300m. My ham radio television transmitters are able to do even better, though they are slight bit bigger.
The car can move around without too much problems with the extra weight, though you certainly aren’t going to try race it with a cam
on it. Best option is to remove the BCG battery and power from one bigger battery bank.
They fit in a MiniZ with lots of room to spare.I got sick of having to extract my mini tank from tricky places, so I put a piece of string on it. I then decided that I could do a lot better with 10m of thin umbilical cord and power it and control it all externally and use the wireless camera for other wireless tasks.
The mini LCD is fun for about 5 minutes until you actually want to see something in detail,
then you want a big screen. This is the only pic I have of it at the moment,
I put an IR camera on it… works a lot better down dark pipes. -

Cool, thanks Panda and Trash. I’ve seen an indoor plane flying around with one of these whilst a small audience watched a TV of the images coming from the plane.
I’ve just gone and got another mortgage, um, I mean bought a mini rc helicopter, so I think one of these micro cams might be just the ticket as well. Power supply on the chopper is 8.4v 800mAH so it suits straight away.
Hmmmm, ideas a flowin’
