I was having a look at the PCB last night on the doner heli that talldude gave me and I took some measurements. It looks like it was be possible to replace the stock BJT transistors (there’s 2) with the popular IRLML2502 MOSFET we use in the bit mosfet mod.

There are two trannys on the piccoz PCB. One controls the main rotor motor, the other controls the rear prop motor. These two are mixed signal controlled so an increase in acceleration in one results in an increase in accel in the other. (ie: to keep the bugger stable).

Turning left or right is just an adjustment to the speed of the rear prop. I tested this and look some measurements and everything seems to hold true.

      Here’s the stock setup:

Here’s the mod setup, with two new IRLML2502 MOSFETS soldered in place of the stock transistors.

It wasn’t too hard. The tricky bit was splitting the foam body, but I got there in the end. Just make sure you use a SHARP hobby knife, this helps bigtime!

Once the PCB, lipo and frame are out of the body it’s quite easy to get to. You will need to unwind the little loom of wire that sits in front of the PCB (where you want to operate) to get to the transistors.

I just cut the stock transistors off and put on the MOSFETS.

I haven’t had much of chance top fly it that much yet.(did this mod at 1 am in the morning, lol…) Already it looks promising. There is definately more power. ie: a lower throttle setting now results in the same hover as a higher setting previously.

Climbing is a lot quicker as well! 😮

I also took the time to clean out and lube the main shaft bushings. also lubed the main motor and rear rotor motor again as well.

this ‘lil bugger is soo much fun…….!

should have taken up a career in MicroSurgery, big guy. 🙂

I’d mod my little flier too, as soon as I can buy a ‘spare’ – gotta be able
to fly anytime, otherwise any downtime cold-turkey would be too traumatic.

Been oiling my bushing with a hypodermic needle.

Spare Silverlit (Genuine) PiccoZ are available direct from Silverlit in the USA. Not CHeap when Toys’R’Us bothers to have them in stock here at AUD39.95

      Try http://www.silverlit.com

The spare tail rotors pack is about the same as eBay pricing though.

I’m currently investigating getting a carton or two of the “clones” into stock as my experience has been favourable.

      We currently have flying:
      T’r’U AUDM PiccoZ (in Yellow)
      UKDM PiccoZ (in Pink)
1 larger RF controlled indoor Heli (by Silverlit)

I’m eventually going to rebuild the cat chewed clone into an ultra light design to learn more about them.

I don’t believe they’re clones. Surprisingly Toyeast is a legit Silverlit reseller!

I resisted the temptation to order some in, but maybe in the next order. (Was just getting some of the iWaver FM gear for FET testing)

      Sir Ph2t

is the charging circuit also in this PCB, or in the Tx?

think its in the TX, as you can snip the cord and charge the heli direct
      using another LiPo-compatible charger

      crazy…

      US$25 for Airframe + $10 post
      US$5 for 5pk of rotors

… why bother? 🙁 cheaper to just get new!!

Stocks pretty hard to find but got lucky yesterday.
Popped into a TRU and found a blue one.

My 1st one has split a main blade halfway thru… its taped up.

And wierd thing is – it still flies perfectly well!
yeah been flying both back-to-back tonight, no difference
