just finished my new z mods.
i have a 6 cell mod and 36fet z “hulls”
for the 6 cell i just put a 2 cell aaa holder on the top and mounted the 36 fets on the side of that. but you can only use the high bodys like skyline clk ect.

Rightio, i thought the PCB could only handle 5 volts, and what does ‘hulls’ mean?

its fast and the pcb can handle 6volts max. ben driveing it with no probs

I think rather than using a stack of 20 FETs you should look at using a larger MOSFET…..

more fets more speed goin for 5 fets now i just ned some more money 🙁

In theory yes, but in practical life its hard to find suitable
MOSFETs with the same/suitable drive & input specifications.
They just aren’t simple signal transistors…So stacking FETs is easier, as parallel FETs gives lower resistance.
But 20… erm, ya better cut some sunroofs in ya mZ shell baby. :p -

I am sure there is one that is suitable for the job out there somewhere.
I’ve done a 6×2 FET stack in my car, haven’t tested it yet…..but it does work.

That IRF7389 is already a “compatible” chip… :smiley2:

BUT…….its still a crappy lil’ surface mount chip….im talking about a larger mosfet with a heatsink etc. That can handle alot of power.

I’m just going to get a thyrotron to replace my fets …. dump 20MJ straight into the motor.
The explosion will propell the car forward !
2 class A rocket motors for JATOs mounted on the sides. MiniZ drag cars … YEAH !!!!
0 to 800kmph in 3 seconds !!!If you’re seriously uping you voltage to the motors but still want 6 volts for your controller,
use a LM7806 voltage regulator.
I haven’t put much thought into the motor circuit yet myself, but looking for batteries that have an internal impedence close to that of
the motor might be an idea. The are some nice
low impedence cordless phone batteries. 4.5V from
memory. 2 of these for 9 volts, you just have to make some space.
