      Kyosho PureTen Alpha2 EP 4WD.
Are these cars any good? Just looking for a basic electric that I can take outside (on road).

Alpha2 is a huge improvement over the Alpha1 (a real shocker) & thankfully a complete redesign. But they are still a very basic design, absolutely nothing too special about it.

It is definitely “built to a price”. Even the electronics is basic… some say the ESC can barely handle the kit motor. Kyosho supplies battery and charger even, I think…

Honestly if you can find a Tamiya XBPro (based on TT01 chassis) it’ll be a much better car – even if one had to pay 50% more. The older XBs (based on TL01) is just as good for bashing, but they don’t have the ESC that XBPro gets.

I’ve found an XB that I like (the Integra).
      http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/57715_16mugen/index.htm

Cheapest I could find was apx $290 AUD incl shipping – not including battery or charger. Is this an ok price? I’ve seen XBs for less, but not the Integra.

I was hoping to do this for under $250, but the TT-01 has way more hop ups and support.

No, I think that’s a pretty decent price.

As rule of thumb – if you can get any Tamiya for
under $400 as a RTR with battery & decent charger
      you’re doing well.

Sounds like you’ll have enough change for a full
set of bearings too – Bonus!! 🙂

I just spotted this TT-01 kit for $199USD (not incl post)
      http://www.etamiya.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2340

      – One set un-assembled 1/10 scale TT-01 electric car
      – One modified motor ( Team Orion Havok ball bearing motor 23T )
      – One APEX Electronic Speed Controller ( w/ Reverse )
      – One set FUTABA AM Radio Control with 1 x S3003 Servo
      – One set stainless steel Full Ball Bearings

      Limited choice of bodies though.

Would I be better off getting this? Or paying a bit more for a normal XB (with the Integra shell I want) and some hop ups that I get to select myself?

I have too many decisions to make :question::question:

No, that sounds pretty good too.

You can buy a Proline Acura RSX shell, I think it looks more “street” than the Tamiya Integra – T’s is the racer version with funny airvents and spoilers.

290 for an XB with shipping is pretty damn good. i found a couple of TB02s on ebay for 215 AUS inc. shipping, but of course i will need radio gear, batteries, etc.

Turns out the Integra XB is about $310 shipped.

The TT-01 package deal, with the Tamiya Mugen Integra Type R body (which I desperately want!), and an extra Tamiya Calsonic Skyline body (for bashing), is $371 AUD delivered.

      I’m getting it!

My CC got swallowed by an ATM yesterday… what timing :dead::dead::dead:
