so these last few weeks have been a bit intense. our vehicle ( a 2000 holden vectra sedan) after 8 years and 280,000 kms had a voltage regulator burn out a few weeks back, a bit scary but nothing else was damaged. according to a lisenced holden mechanic.

a few days ago we just got into sydney (kirawee to be exact) and smoke starts billowing out the air vents all through the cab. not good smoke either, scary grey choking chemical smoke. we managed to get out of 3 lane highway traffic without indicator lights without incident and pulled up and shut her down.

a 47km tow and a day later we find out all the cables in the steering column have shorted/melted/almost caught fire and its a f@cking catastrophe. $2800 would be the bill to get the wreck home to our local mechanic and then the estimate to get the wiring and whatever else fixed was at least another 3+ thousand. not including a hire car to keep on working.

so we ended up picking up a new beast, a VW passat that seriously puts some 60+k euro sedans to shame. managed to get finance for it in under an hour also. helps having school freinds who work at which bank i guess 🙂

Nissan R31 Skyline, odometer stopped at 434k many years ago, would have done around 600k easy by now. Still going (replaced/fixed many things though..). Also a ’73 Mini Clubman, complete with 10″ wheels (with hubcaps 🙂 )

If it’s got wheels or boobs, it’ll cause trouble…
