If anyone s considering Tamiya s new entry-level TEU101BK ESC (and they re definitely cheap -n- cheery), do note that this ESC supplies 7.2V @ 1A to your Receiver.

In short… it don t regulate it to 6V like most ESCs do.

That means you MUST use an RX that has BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuitry) facility built-in, otherwise feeding 7.2V to a non-BEC RX wil fry it.

TEU101BK is rated at Fwd 60A and Rev 60A, so its only suitable for silvercan RS540 & SportTuned motors only. Anything more is at your own risk.

(would make a great MicroRS4 ESC though!!)

      yeah I’d say so.

But its got a pretty decent swag of FETs, looks a lot like that on the Futaba 230. Might be a pretty conservative rating.

I have a 50 A ESC in my GH2, and it with a 14×2 motor the MOSFETS get only Lukewarm.

The 50A is RMS, the max rating is 200A

Those numbers are always only valid as long as the FETs stay at 25degC… once they get hotter, all bets are off. 🙂

True….once they get hot, the R(ds) increases…..Which makes the tempareture go up in a logarithymic curve……bang…fizzle…pop!!! Then that awful “electronic” smell.
