ok, i have a crappy bit mock up car i got last xmas. i am getting an iwaver in a couple days, and the bit is pretty wrecked. but the electronics still work. the steering is with 2 coils, and its not proportional. can i use the bits pcb electronic switches?

i dont understand your request.. but i think what you asking is can you use the channel outputs like a switch.. answer is yes.. but with very limited voltage and current for your output

if you want to not use the out put form the RX chip chuck the channel onto a transistor and us that like a switch for the vcc and such of the existing system

range is easyly fixable.. w few things.. once better antenars.. more TX and more RX voltage (withing constraints) and finaly you can build a simple amplifier for your TX output which can boost the signal HUGE (limitless depending on your power and antenar
