has anyone ever tried connecting a power-drill to a motor and wearing it in?
i ask because my 3.0 motor is stuffed and wont go forwards unless Ii push start it…maybe this way would seat the brushs properly so it might work…
The back emf might be abit of a problem tho…http://www21.brinkster.com/gtahh/

hmmm, you cant really ‘seat’ metal brushes. But give it a go, and tell us. Try the motor in another chassis, it often works.

Will some graphite on the brushes work? I’ve done this for regular 3V motors you get in most toys without any problems.

WARNING: Graphite CONDUCTS, and will short out the commutator sections.
Yeah GT-ahh those bit motors arent easy to rebuild eh? I wonder if turning the plastic endbell around (to adjust the motor timing) would boost performance…..
Oh and A drill only does a few hundred RPM, the motors do 10’s of thousands of revs….i reckon ‘water dipping’ (puts large load on the motor) and leaving it for a while, running on 1volt or so should help. After you have finished spray the motor through the vent holes with WD40 to get out all the water and lube it.

water dipping wont have any effect because the viscosity of the water will stop it from entering the bell housing….i dont know if i really wanna try turning the end bell either..i have a feeling i may break it…

I tried using my dremel on high for about a minute. I did’nt notice a difference in power, but I did notice the motor was a little quieter.

Running in motor is a good idea, but using a Dremel is probably overkill. Just as easy to just power the motor with a larger nicad and just let it run overnight or more. Would probably run all night on a single charge!!
And if you discover the useful ‘life’ of a microB motor, tell us PLEASE!!! 😀
