the romeo and juliet of tha miniz xmod rivalry jus poped out this lil bugger. haha jk, its only at its prototype stage at tha moment. no majior performance parts yet but ill get to it right after this post and update it later.
one of my frenz with a fully upgraded Z. gaive me his stoc rear end a long time ago. jus been sitting in my tool box for a while. so i dicided to use it. normal rear wheel drive xmod (ok) rear wheel drive xmod with a z rear end (way better) not as cool a an awd xmod but this is one cool 1/28. only thing on it at tha moment is jus:
stocks fets
4cell
8 tooth
stage 2 motor
miniZ stock rear end
graphite flex platehits 24 kph (speed checker) picks up really quick. seems easier for tha z rear end to push tha car. i need to find a way to make a powerful rwd car w/o breaking dogbone cups. i guess i found my answer. later today im planin to put realays in since ive ran out of fets. 20 turn double wound motor. and an 11 tooth pinion.
http://img17.photobucket.com/albums/v51/chino925/diograms/TRM_diogram.jpg theres more than enough room for relays in the middle since motor isnt there anymore
heres sum pics prototype sage so plz dont mind the ugly fd wheels, haha

Dude try putting some heatshrink on the drivecups, that will stop them flexing and breaking.

haha, its funny u say that cus im tha one that started that long time ago back in january.

it worked for a while but i started to find more ways to get power. and still break cups. and if the cup doesnt break i round out the D shaped stud on the other end.
i jus did a lil work on this Zmod.
i swaped out IC5 for a steering fet,
changed to a MRS4 11tooth pinion.
10k ohm 1/4 watt risistors on my servo
still usein tha stock stage2
hit 32 kphperfoms better than my friens mr-o2. its like a Z w/o all the tweakin problems. accelerates faster than my friends xspeed with 9 tooth. could this be better than that $150 car? maybe i havnt even started winding motors for it yet. only problem is traction. even with 11tooth it spins em forever. only way to drive it is outside on smooth concrete. i forgot about tha problems with a rwd.

for RWD, Z rear end is way better than tha stock. most xmod rear ends are wacked anyway. wich causes tha whole sharp left wide rights (or tha other way around) easy to fix with a solder iron. xmods are better off 4wd.the direct drive is more responsive.
soon…

No it isnt better then a mr-02 if that thing was fully hopped up with a nelly and a plasma dash it would own a xmod with nelly and plasma dash

how many teeth does a mini z spur hav? i forgot to count befor i sanded them down. to feel my need for speed(corny huh) i made a smaller spur gear out of a gear from sum toy i had laying around. cut the middle out to make a ring of teeth. sanded down tha original teeth. glued tha ring of teeth around tha middle of tha diff so i i kan push tha motor shaft deeper into tha pinion instead of jus tha tip where it sumtimes flys off. now i have a smaller spur mounted nearer the motor.
main reason why i did this is cus i want to use a 14 tooth pinion, 11 is the biggest i kan use withtha stock motor mount. so it wus either find a way to raise tha motor more or make a smaller spur. smaller spur it is. plus smaller spur = top end. might as well make use of all tha torque this thing is puttin out ( i didnt even install neos yet) but yeah hers tha updatesmaller spur (40tooth)
mini Z six spokes all around
xmod rear tires(soft,wide)
still 11T pinion
55 kphi havnt even started to add voltage yet
ill hav pics soon -

chino can u try to put the MRS4 pinion on a xmod and see if it meshes..?
-
June 25, 2004 at 6:17 pm #52813
nope. doesnt mesh good at all. i wish. haha but u jus gave me another idea. shave down tha teeth of an xmod bevel, and glue teeth on from a different gear. kinda like how i did mine.
updated picshttp://img17.photobucket.com/albums/v51/chino925/Zmods/
the brown gear is wut i used to make the new spur -
