Has anyone tried the antenna mod where you wind it around a cotton tip and get this cool looking twirly antenna?
What does it do for your range? Worse/better/same?

cotton tip? thats pretty thick!
is that on the car or the handset?
I have done the car one with dual cat 5 cable core’s that increases the range by about 3 meters, but a pain if you have 2 cars racing different tracks in a large room with the same frequencies.Bap Bap Bap

Yep I’ve done it…
It didn’t really change the range. I’m pretty sure that’s because the lenght of the antenna didn’t change, although with the antenna standing a bit shorter, theoretically it should decrease the range slightly.
But I then decided to un-curl it and unknot the antenna under the PCB to extend the antenna hoping for a extra boost in range… No real noticible increase tho… maybe 10cm or so for the stutter free range…
btw, I think that the antenna is glued onto the plastic PCB cover on some of the compacts.
Hope that helps
