      Hi,
Has anybody had a problem where at the back of the chassi, where the heat sink locks on, the tab is cracked? i have had two BCG chassi’s do it and i have tried repairing with super glue, aryldite and many other glues, but it has gone to such a state that one of them has broken off:sad:.

Could some one please help me as these are my best BCG’s!

yeah it happens quite often…its hard to repair maybe try modelling glue. Also make sure you always use the heatsink remover-undo-er tool if you have one..if you dont have one id recomend you get one…

what i would do is make a new tab and place it underneath the broken existing one. glue the new tab on so its pretty much bridging the gap.
then u have lowered your car and u have fixed your problem. by lowering i mean u have done the lowering tab method, only thing is you will probably have to shave down the old one a fair bit and maybe make a new hole in the shell, i know its a fair bit of work but its gonna fix your problem and its also going to make your car look cool

yeh crom iv had the same problem, iv got one completely broken off, and some others cracked, and its really really annoying.

Im going to try and super glue the craked ones, and maybe kill a whole chassis to get the tab of it and glue it on my other one, or can shypo tell me another way to get a tab ??

Let me know if you find a good way crom

      Shypo,
Did you make a hole in the new tab for the heat sink that holds the motor in?

those k.i.t racer chassis are a good source of tabs.:)
just cut the chassis at the edge of the back so that you are left with a tab attatched to a flat panel.
cut the old one off, (after you remove everything on the rear assembly) sand the back of the bit chassis about 2mm, sand the back of the kit tab plate about 1.5mm and glue in desired location. i.e raised or lowered (or level)
      have fun!
just remember not to stess your shells by not removing enough of the old tab.

oorgaaniiize it! nah, i dont creep around the bins of westfield! i found out how “good” the tomy reps are when it comes to warranty off a freind who runs the byron bay toy store.
the company offers total trust to its retailers it seems, if some kid brings one in broke jordan will ring tomy up and they will send him a new one, he chucks out the old “broken” one.

      replace broken with misunderstood.

hey guys just an update on this crisis, got out all my cars today (they all have slits in the tabs, so i got superglue and glued around where the slits are, and they look alot more sturdy now, so im happy : D

With my one that had the broken tab completely i taped the heat sink down, and on the tape (masking tape) i super glue and now the heat sink is staying down, only bummer is that you can change the motor without having to take the tape off and doing it all again !

why did you tell us that! i’ve long been past the stage of bodgey glue. superglue has to crystalize in order to solidify, that tab cracked because of stress created by the heatsink and the shell. that glue will crack, and by the fifth layer of glue and sticky tape you will have spent the same amount of time as doing it propr.

      maybe…..

Barrelll, do the lowering tab method as your car will look alot better and its better than shaving holes in the shell like i have done, over time the shell starts to strecth which is not a good thing
