And I though BitChar-G had it’s share of mods….Damn…..
-
June 18, 2003 at 4:58 pm #26927
Ha!!! My car is still not fully hopped up anyway!! There is literally thousands of parts you can buy, and it seems that mini z has the biggest range of mods.
My car cruises to 27 km/h, which is about 756km/h scale speed. Ive set her up to corner well, but i just cant get the front end to stick like the rear does…..need bigger aerofoils.
I think it amazing that your Bit char-g can reach 20.8 km/h (1331 km/h)its just incredible….have you managed to work out the actual motor RPM yet?
Its gotta be close on 200,000 rpm. LOL micro b20!! -

Gonna be a busy night. -

Mine started off as a D2 Merc.
Now it is a yellow Toyota MR2 with plenty of aluminium, bearings, X-Speed motor and a few surprises :smiley2:

Nice to see you back on the forums Derek, been a long time.
Does the alloy make it any heavier??And is the MR2 a ‘Mini Power’ one?? Cause i wanted to get one but i was unsure of the quality and detail. Are they good?
-
June 20, 2003 at 12:42 am #26432
Alloy definately isn’t a weight reduction – but being more rigid and better under some stress conditions can sometimes be a wise swap… Plus it looks so purty!

Full bearing kit.
Soft tyres on standard wide body wheels & a full set of hard tyres for basketball court runs.
Narrow fronts,wide rears.
Also foams tyres on chrome rims.
Narrow front, wide rear.
Ball diff.
Used to have alloy wheel nuts they were crap so went back to the standard ones. No more lost wheel bearings.Rear centre shock.
Rear roll shock kit.
Carbon H-plate. (don’t always run this)Front stainless steel kingpins.
Mod sway bar.
Camber kit.
Toe-in kit.
Alloy front brace.
Various front springs.
Lowered all round.xspeed motor.
special motor from HK. (need to drive better before putting this motor back in)

Thanks, Jamie. Yes, I’ve been VERY light-on with the posts, but trust me – I haven’t been too far away:smiley2:
Quote:Does the alloy make it any heavier??No. The opposite. But, for my style of thrashy driving, a little extra weight – particularly over the motor/axle – is a good thing. In all honesty though, it’s all about the looks. The pretty alloy bits just look tuff. Hehehe.
Quote:And is the MR2 a ‘Mini Power’ one?? Cause i wanted to get one but i was unsure of the quality and detail. Are they good?Yeppers. I have a friend in Yokohama who picked up one for me for ~AUD20.00. Detail is SUPERB, fit is excellent, and shell strength is AVERAGE. I wish I’d kept my Merc D2 shell (Series II Mini-Z with beautiful finish) for show and had a Mini power shell for day-to-day racing.

Okay, is the detail as good as kyosho? my main concern is head/tail lights, because im making a car to enter in contests etc, so its gotta be good.
-

June 22, 2003 at 11:51 pm #26336

I’m not sure what the lightest is.. probably the Vitz but its short wheelbase..
-
June 30, 2003 at 6:07 pm #24600
I have been informed that the MODENA is the most effective race body because it doesnt get flipped over as easily as other bodies and it has long wheelbase.

I can’t get hold of a booster cap, DSE said that they had ‘discontinued’ it.
GT-ahh, will a 6×2 stack of fets handle 5 cells with a plasma dash??
-
September 29, 2003 at 10:42 pm #31171
heh maybe, prob not im still having issues with my 5th cell… and my dash heats my fets with 4 cells… i guess u gotta try it to find out
-
October 1, 2003 at 6:05 pm #31043
I added a 5th cell to my Z. I mounted it between the motor pod and chassis, a few minor dremels and theres plenty of clearance.
My 5th cell is connected to a small piece of double sided PCB, which slots between the battery contact on the car’s right side.
Can ya get hold of a booster cap GT-Ahh?

October 2, 2003 at 4:46 am #30969
the retard at jaycar gave me the wrong one and im too lazy to get another one yet…all u need is a 4700uF 16v wire it across the bats i think.. check minizracer they got info there.
-
October 2, 2003 at 1:13 pm #30972
DSE used to have 1 farad (1,000,000 uF) 5v supercapacitors for like 9 bux. Thats the one i am after.
Yeah i know you gots to wire it across the batts, cause if you wired it across the motor it would because it would have less efect andprobably blow the ESC.
