Fellas, you know me, if it ain’t got electricity in it I’m clueless….
This shell was the clear one that came in the Lxx auto modellista set along with the yellow supra shell, I have no idea what it is….
Basically I masked the windows first and then sprayed a few coats of blue. After that I did the silver lines with tape again. Did a clear gloss on top of that but I thinks it starts to eat through.
Cheers,
ph2t.

Ph2t, nice work. Remember Panda’s comments in your paints ‘n stuff post?
Quote:rule with acrylic… do NOT paint Enamels
on top of it!! (you can paint acrylic on
top of enamels, just not enamel on acrylic.)
Your top layer will curdle, the bottom will bubble. This may have been what happened??

Sweet job!
Are those yellow lights an insert or stickers?

Thanks guys. Cranga, the yellow is some brush applied acrylic paint that fell in the gaps. I then wiped the excess off to get what you see. It’s an old technique I learnt from my french polishing days…..
Impreza, I checked all the spray cans and they are all enamels, including the gloss. I’ve been told by a few guys in the bitpimps forums though that some gloss enamels have issues with the silver and gold paints out there.
Learning as I go…..:smiley16:

Actually the silver on bb I painted and posted in the galleries seemed to thin just a bit on the hood when I added gloss finish to it. I used Testors Aluminium 1181, enamel, and enamel gloss on top…sorry Panda, guess I didn’t use enamel on acrylic after all:blush:. Thanks for the info ph2t.

Removed it because the LED power board takes up the room. See my “sneek peak, next project…” thread in BCG techo.
