I have one of those Compact Char-gs (the honda s2000) and the reverse dosnt seem to work very well. It dosnt move and when i give it a push to get it going it then goes in reverse. Basically i have to push start it to reverse the car. Forewards works fine.
Can this be fixed?
and also i live near brisbane, are there any places that i can get char-g bits? like tires, new shells, motor, suspension etc etc..

welcome to the boards i||usionary
the problem i am guessing you are having is that the gears may not be meshing properly and therefore they wont spin freely. the way to fix this is just slide on the gears, make sure the middle or idle gear spins freely and then u should be fine. if this doesnt work then i am guesing the problem is the motor postion so just wiggle the motor around a bit until it works properly. hope this helpsas for the bits and peices u r after the only place to buy them is online

if that boesnt work see if the problem occurs without the gear…ie see if the motor will reverse freely..my 3.0 motor wont go forwards without a push..

ok thanks, i also have problems with my steering, i saw on one of the videos i downloaded from here where 2 cars race on davef’s track, and they turn really good, mine wouldnt be able to turn those U turns and maybe not even the 90deg. turns : do i need new steering or something?

is there anything under the car where the steering is (metal peices) that may be effected the steering magnet ?
The only thing to fix steering is usually to open it up, and that is quite difficult the first time.
Get in there, clean it up, watch out for the steering spring tho, clean the magnet, place it in the middle of the holder, that should make a difference

cool thanks, i realised it was just my bad driving 😯
I just needed to back off the accelerator a bit to make those tight turns.

i wouldnt advise mucking around with the battery… but basically you pop off the pcb cover and lift up the circuit board…
be really careful tho..cause those tiny steering wires can snap and they are a bitch to solder back together..http://www21.brinkster.com/gtahh/

is there a difference between the compact char-g and the bit char-g? are parts for both interchangeable?
-
February 22, 2003 at 10:28 pm #40613
yep, they’re one and the same. Compact Char-G is the local name for them, while Bit Char-G is the Japanese name. And yes the parts are interchangeable.:smiley2:

the tire set helps heaps..
soft tires on the front, hard on the back=tight turning
the tireset comes w/three types of hardness tires so you can do fine tuning. very handy for perfecting track skills. build a track at home, only poor bits race on dirrt-e floors. dust sticking to tyres affects steering severely as well. -

yep all parts are interchangeable, they are the same thing, just been given a new name, but only 2 cars under the compact cahr-g range, compared to about 20 under the bit char-g name.

I had the same problem with my compact Char g. I just gave the chassis a good clean, vacuum, got the tweezers out and pulled out any hair from the axles etc. Then I just ran it quite a lot using reverse more than forwards. Could just be a temporary problem. Mine works fine now.
