today i was at my friend’s place and we we’re playing with my bit, and i wanted to give drifting one more shot. so we tried to look for a really smooooooth surface, and all we could think of is his marble table. at first i tried it with the tires, i knew it wouldn’t drift or slide at all, i just wanted to see how much grip it had. then i took off the tires and tried it, it slided a bit but not enough to drift properly, it was more like dougnuts…i didn’t want to give up cos i had a feeling that it was capable of drifting, so we tried to think of something else. then i saw on his shelf a bottle of windex, saw i tried that, and it did work, but it needs some getting used to. you’ll have to counter-steer, and after u spray the windex just wipe it once gently. i did this without any mods on my car, still the stock 1.0 motor. can’t wait and see wut kind of results i’ll get when i get my 2.6 motor and dual cell.:D

Try running your car backwards with no tires on a dusty floor. I only have a 3.0 and it works but with more speed it wiould work better. Just get used to the strange driving technique!:8ball:

There’s a document somewhere on driving techniques. Very informative read. I’ll try and track it down.

My tracks give drift with 2.2 and above motors. It’s great with a booter set.

      satin varnish……

      DUSTY FLOOR! no respecta!

180 degree turns are easily acheivable with the right tyre combo on a generously satin varnished COFFEE table. i can even whip my trailered Bb around 120 degrees if at full speed when turning av a look at the beast

chemicals and dust might simulate what u desire but deep down you Know the truth “this is NOT a mini-z”

go buy a booster and a tyre set and then you can really drift!!!:smiley2:

I have a hardwood floor that gets dusty from time to time. I have been able to hold a drift for almost a foot. I have been playing with different tire combinations and am getting better at it.

180 degree turns are not drift…thats spinning out…my dual cell can do perfect 360s and keep going if i take the tyres off

It is truly a difficult thing to do with a car that has such a small wheelbase. I noticed earlier today that my stretched chassis car is much easier to drift. Maybe the secret is in the wheelbase.

or maybe you need a mini-z….anyways its harder to drift on wooden floor after its been raining because the humidity makes it sticky….:D

Don’t make your floor into a skid pan. buy a bit of board, give it a barrier all round the edge, then put the oil on that. No mess on the floor, and you don’t have to add so much oil to the board after it’s first few uses. The oil helps keep the board in tip top condition too. =o)

      GT: spin-out eh?

isn’t drift the art of controlled spin out?
the secret is custom drift tires! tomy drift axle as you gotta know by now sux, the idea is good but hard plastic tires don’t grip at all.

copy the cut out idea and hack some grooves into a pair of hard rubber rear tires, try to keep them neat and even and make sure to use a real sharp blade.

      “begun the clone war has”
      -yoda-

without clones i wouldn’t have had as much fun.

I think the KIT racer has a tire set (white) that is like that already I think. Tread running around the tires (fromt to back groves).

yeah they re ultrahard…and yeah you’re right z-beam drift is a controlled loss of traction.:Dbut its abit hard on a car with no proportional throttle controll or steering.

dave the drift axle has groves side to side.

i did start with the same hardness and pattern tyres as the white kit tyres (black enertech) and then cut the ridges in.

      da drift rig:
