Trackbuilder.exe must be in c:trackmaker directory, or it doesn’t work. You can’t just install it anywhere. It’s a pain to get installed sometimes, but works pretty well once it does. It’s good for getting ideas about your track layout, but you’ll need to modify the end result to get a nice non-boxy looking track in the end.

can u translate that
-
January 24, 2003 at 7:33 pm #42561
in other words you have to save trackbuilder as the folder named c:trackmaker and you will have to modify the track you make cos otherwise its gonna be 2 square

depends what you want your track to be like. i.e tight and twisty, long raceway, rally. downhill
select what sort of course you want and then we can help with specifics—-

well my track has 9 corners it is a medium sized track and it is 50% corners and 50% straight and i want to be able to burnout and drift.

January 26, 2003 at 9:24 pm #42352
ok, well the problem you are going to encounter is you cannot do a burnout in a BCG unless you have 4 batterys or more, drifting is almost impossible when confined to a track as the track is medium and evn with 30cm width you still cannot drift. IMO masonite and paint is the best combination as 2 of my tracks are made out of that combo and thewy are very easy and smooth to drive on

Well if i cant burn out how does the supra on Dave and Paul go crazy video do it ?
👿 LUKE 👿
-
January 27, 2003 at 9:39 pm #42295
Paul and Dave do not do burnouts, i didnt c any smoke from the rear wheels or front wheels let alone a skid mark, dude his supra doesnt do a burnout, it just looks like it, assuming it has 2 batteries inside the chassis and a 3.8. i know the car doesnt have these but hypathetically it does it still wouldnt do a burnout, doing a burnout with a 2.2 which Dave says is too fast for his track is IMPOSSIBLE

I dont mean smoke or anything like that sry, i just ment like spinning the wheels.

January 28, 2003 at 12:19 am #42272
thats also very vry hard to do, evn with bit racer super hards and KIT racer super hard white ribbed tires. you will need serious power to do this and this power will be pretty much unuseable on a track unless you use a booster chassis with twin cells and you change the motor when you want to get close to spinning the wheels or another alternative is just take off your tyres:D let the rims run free and you will have hours of donuts and “burnout” fun

I found a mix of x.soft (orange, K.I.T.) tyres and a Cyclona motor gives me the behaiviour you seem to desire… Takes a couple of seconds for mine to grip, and if its on lino… forget it!!!
Funny tho, I thought the soft tyres would AID traction. Why do you want it to spin out ?? Just mess about with different surfaces.
On the track surface note, thanx to everyone with ideas, went with
grey undercoat. Huge amounts of traction! (to the point I can now roll my GTR, not that i want to!!):smiley2:

The bit,
If you want a simulated burnout,
I would only reccomend this for a cheap clone though, pour cooking oil 1mm deep on some mdf/cardboard, leave your tires on and go for it, its good fun as the wheels spin like crazy and the car looks like it is doing one in real life. Then for more fun put some angle on the track and try to climb the hill!Bap Bap Bap

Ah, now I understand which bit you’re asking about now. The burnout before the take-off, not the donuts near the start/finish line.
The donuts were done with a 3.0 motor, and booster set. Turn, give it a boost, and the donut begins. Takes some practice to get the timing, and to do be able to do it in the space provided.
The burnout takeoff… Zoom in on the car so you can’t see the arial. Lift the car slightly using the arial. Hit foward, the wheel will spin, lower the car onto the track and let go of the arial before the wheel stops spinning. looks good, but it’s just a hollywood special effect baby.

A few drops of olive oil can give good burnout results too. Don’t do it on your tack though, or you’ll end up with a slick spot.

Thats the way daveF!
I did that on my cardboard track and the results were awsome! if you do it thick enough you can do a real slow drift. But make sure you clean your BCG before you put it on your good track, cause it’ll never be the same again.

I’ll have to watch Pauls clip again to make sure we’re all talking about the same burnout.
No smoke, not from the car anyway. =o)-~
The Paul and Dave go Crazy video…
Yup. 1 min 50 into it we lift the arial to reduce the grip of the tire on the track. It’s done with a 1.0 motor. Wiggled the hand a little to simulate the drift of a burnout and lowerred the car while releasing the arial.
Hollywood special effects demistified.

very very sneaky Dave. still looks cool. i wish we could actually have enuf power from the BCG to pull a nice burnout with tire tread left on the road:D:D:D:D

Yeah. We need more links to track photos in here I think, or a section in Links just for Track photos as apposed to designs or instructions.
It’s good to see what other people have done.
