Hey Guys just thought id give you a bit of an update on our racing on the western creek raceway in Hobart :smiley16:

Well we had our 2nd official race last night, with 3 cars going. Altho the 3rd car ran out of batteries half way thru the race, and retired.

So it came down to me and rik (mondo), we swapped leads about 10 times, and it was very close (both running stocko 2.2s), i got infront with the last corner to go, but i touched the corner and rik was able to go up the inside and beat me by .5 os a second (we have official timing). So it was very successful, and with more racers to come in the coming weeks its only going to get better. The websie will be updated soon to show our records, so ill keep u updated about that.

Also another BIG boost for char-g racing … Rik (mondo) and I are going to build our own char-g track for the trade expo in march (fairly big event)at the DEC in Hobart, so we will have the char-gs on show for the first time in Australia i believe ?? So its all pretty exciting, no doubt mondo will post to this and give his views, ill keep you all updated.

What date is the trade DEC Expo in March?

I have heard about it but always after the event:sad:

I’m up the NW coast and I can’t ever remember seeing it advertised in the papers up here at all.

Love to get down to check it out. Perhaps this year might be the year I finally make it!!

I think the Expo is on the first weekend of March but I’ll have to check on that as I’m not too sure.

Dave, you have a point there. We should be able to demo the non-approved frequency cars but we’ll have to look into the selling part.

So we only have about 5 weeks to build a track but both Barrell and I have next week off (yay, it’s been approved!!) and on Wednesday we will have the WCR building to our selves to start building.

Barrell, I’ll email Gerald to see what’s happening about the key and the Skyline body.

Ill try and get my hands on a digital camera for wednesday then, so is then weh nu want to start mondo ? Wednesday ? not Tuesday? Wednesday prob suits me better so thatll be cool !

Yeh i think trade show in the first weekend in march but will find out for you.

So u guys think it would be illegal to sell the japanese models while were there ?? Might have to go on the secret and tell people to be HUSH HUSH, altho we can always just sell accessories.

if we arent allowed to have the frequencys then y are they letting them into the country in the hundreds. these cars dont have enuf range to screw with stuff imho

I was thinking about getting some sponsorship from K & D or Mitre 10 for the track.

We could have their logos on the track and on a car or two. Then we could get a costing of the materials and make a how-to-build-a-track poster or hand-outs to give/sell to people on the day.

any thoughts?

Hey you could just mark them all as 27 mhz coz that is a leagle freq

Or but a sticker over the freqs

Sell them as TRADE SAMPLES and put a disclaimer on the box

Also it not the first time bits have been in australia ( COMPACT CHAR -G)

good idea’s lazboy, but i remeber in an old thread that one of the Japanese frequencys screws with ambulances but unless you have some sort of tightass industry watch dog around you guys should be fine:smiley2:

did you know there iz a $10,000 fine in oz for using the 49mhz freq. some body told me that it jamms the signal used by ambulances for different equipment

35, 45 ,57 and any other non standard freq. can effect communications and heart monetering gear. not to shure on how much it affects them though im sure a little bcg is isnt going to have the same effect as a stadium blitzer or some other large scale r/c.

the way i found out about the fine was in a shop in melbourne, the owners had bought a 100mhz microphone transmitter that could cut in over the com net of any sporting event or concert. they took it to a cricket match and within 15 minutes of turning it on they were arrested and fined!!!

hmmm i guess well just race 27mhz and 40mhz, and sell the other frequencies “quietly”. Its only Hobart, so i think we should be alright, and if someone says something you just come back with “o i didnt know” :smiley2:

I just got an Exhibitor Registration Form for the 7th Model Makers and Collectors Exhibition at the Derwent Entertainment Centre. geez that was a long and complicated sentance!

March 15th and 16th but I’m not to sure about the times.

well im not sure i havent been there.

WE had to fill in a form saying waht frequency we were going to use, etc, but there will be the 1/24 cars racing at the same time as us that we are alligned with at the raceway, there is some interferance (ie range isnt as good) when they are racing, but its not too bad.

We should chat sometime 8ch ess vee, you got msn ?

Bad bit is tho I’m playing in a band on the Saturday (Forth Valley Blues Festival), so hopefully I will be able to make it down to Hobart on the Saturday late arvo / night to be in to the expo early on Sunday.

Just my luck by the time I get there all the good stuff will be gone!!

Well, day one of the Display out at the DEC was today. I wanted to come, but am dead broke till after the gig on Sunday, and it’s closed by then, so I’m going to have to miss it.

If you want to take two 1m x 1m bit of by track along to race around on Sunday, let me know and I’ll loan it to you, for free admission of me and my 2 boys =o).

Can we get any photos of you and who-ever out at the DEC with the cars, etc? How many people showed any serious interrest? Did you meet more BCG owners? Did you meet any other AusMicro people?

Bummer hey Dave,

I was dead keen to get down there myself, but didn’t quite have the “get up and go” to get up and go down to Hobart from Devonport on Sunday morning.

After playing at the Forth Blues Festival on Saturday I was also a bit broke (dont ya hate those gigs where you only get paid a small fee and are expected to feel good about just having the enjoyment of playing in front of a big crowd!)

Admittedly I really enjoyed the day, excelent weather, good food, cold beer and some awesome blues music by artists and bands from all over Australia and N.Z.

Anyway, hopefully they all had a great couple of days at the DEC and will send a heap of newcommers to the site and post some cool pics too!!

With a bit of luck some NW coasters for me to race with too!!

Hey Guys, sorry about not replying, been flat out, setting up and being at the DEC (was there for like 20 hours in 48 hours of 2 days.

It was a big success, lots of people LOVED the little cars, sold about 10 kits, and gave about 100 information sheets, so it should really get going hopefully 🙂

We will also be in a few magazines, and stuff very soon, but ill let you know about that.

Our stand won an award also for “THE MOST UNUSUAL LAYOUT”, i guess its true, casue there was nothing like these little beasts.

All in all, a great weekend, any qsts, just ask me: 🙂

No real bcg owners, a few people had them, but no real enthuisists

Nup no other ausmicro people that i know of

we had the track on the floor with fences around it (we were with the 1/24 scale guys and ther big track), and let all the kids (and adults) have a go 😀
