*laughs* remember that most competitions need to be run under some rules from all states Lotteries acts. Ofcourse your “guessing” competitions seem to avoid this through some loop hole.

I would shy away from any competition that merely wen to someone with most posts in a certain period or relied upon a subject judgement. Something random is best 😉

Hey guys just saw this thread. I think promoting the site is a great idea, so why not have a comp for the best body painted with ausmicro.com detailing on it:) That way the pics of cars with a sweet paint job showing the site colors. Good way to show your talent and ad the site. You could have cats for mod. bodies, stock bodies, and maybe an age prize for us old farts, or you young guns. As for prizes? Maybe some ausmicro.com decals? (sorry Dave.) You could call the comp. Ausmicro pacecar comp (sorry Shypo.) so you could get intrest. Post the winners on the home page for a week or so (or longer) in the pic of the moment section and post them somewhere else perm. on the site. Kind of braging rights. Just a thought????

Yeah. There’s another micro RC site that gives air time to just about any photo of a BCG with their web address in the photo. Most people just write the name www address on a bit of paper and put it next to the car. Then, when those photos float around the web between other RC people, the site gets advertised too. Smart really. That might be simpler for people to do than a decal mod at this stage, fir a 1st competition. Photos go into the Pic of the moment category? Just some ideas.

The more AusMicro.com name gets spread around, the better I say. Increases the chances of finding people to race, swapping ideas, getting help, etc.

Ok, how about top paint job with pre-defined colours, including detailing, stripes, flames, whatever. Leaving space for the grand prize decals (sorry Dave:). Give the members say 3 colors to work with and see what happens. Winners in the cats. get decals and posted pics on the home page or another folder:shock:as well as bragging rights until the next comp is held. I still think a catchy contest name like ausmicro.com pace car (ala Shypo etc..) would be good to catch alot of attention on the site. Aaron what do you think of all this?? 3 colours is all we need *searches franticly for pink, orange and beige paints:clown:*

I think the pacecar competition idea is a good one. The AusMicro logo plasterred accross the car perhaps, or at least on the image somewhere. these would float around the web and draw in more members.

Whatever the comp, the AusMicro name needs to apper in the image that is sent in, or maybe Aaron can add it before the image is posted on the comp page?

Sounds good Dave, a watermark across the posted pic would work to but may not look as good as decals? I think prep the cars for a decal or two, say the doors and hood (have to give some sort of specs so ppl know what car body they can enter, ie the size of the decals. Paint the body up in the spec colors and send in a pic to the site via PM or email. Winners get the decals and once they get them, proudly re-submit pics with the decals to go onto the home page with name etc.. The reason for limiting the colour schem is two fold; keep the winning cars the same colours as the decals and give all members a time frame in which to produce or modify an existing paint job (ie everyone starts from or close to scratch:)

Plus you got to think it would look very cool to see what the creative minds on this site could do with 3 colours of paints and a car body. Not to mention that posting pics of the winners circle would look sweet when all the cars are painted in the same colours.

This one is doable, we just need the ok from above. I will offer to help write up the guidelines etc.. Although I would like to submit a car, I would wave that if you needed someone to write up the rules and select the colours etc.. Dave are the decals a reality?? What size, and where would they go?? Before Admin kicks me off the site, how bout it Aaron?? Trading Direct??:blush:

I don’t have the decal paper yet, so haven’t really played with it too much. It’s not that it’ll take long, it’s just that there’s no point until I have the paper.

I do agree that having them all the AusMicro colours would look cool. A pool of AusMicro corporate imaged cars would look good. Sounds like a good idea. Anyone else agree?

How much are red, white and blue model paints anyway? what are the actual colour names? Cheery red? Royal Blue? And hois much is the clear spray?

Sorry and thanks Dave, kind of putting the pressure on you with the decals. We could start this comp off when you get the paper and run it a month or two?? Shypo any suggestions on how long to run it? Should make sure the colours we pick are not too hard to get and are avail. in diff manufac’s 🙂

nice idea ’bout the colours but i dont think that many ppl would do it, how long has it taken 10 shirts to move? i think the international traffic is positive but lets not loose perspective this is AUSmicro. so howabout this, 3 cats: 1.open, anyone, anyshell.
2.ausmicro, the scheme idea, anyone, anyshell, set colour parameters.
3.hotshot, come and enter here if you think your hot enuff. all the ppl who think they ‘ave the sh*t when it comes to modding and painting need go no further.

The only prob? with the first is that pre-existing stuff will be entered. Is that ok??? Or do you want new paint jobs only? The colour scheme ensures that we are seeing new paint jobs here on ausmicro.com first, not paint jobs from another site.. then here. True. The camera does make a big difference. Haven’t you got anyone round you with access to a good camera Shypo? How about at work? Take one for a test spin.

Go into Harvey norman with your bit and a disk. Say you want to compare cameras. Ask for a demo of one of the digital cameras that take floppies, not memory cards, take a few snaps, and say you’ll be comparing the print at home with another shops camera. Might work.

Ok, thought about what z-beam said a bit more. How about these 3 cats.

1. pre-existing or new paint jobs on a non-mod. shell. Shell can be ANY micro shell (should we include mini z’s here)?

2. 3 colour paint job, sporting room for a ausmicro.com logo, say on the hood and side doors. Bit sized micros only (to allow for right sized logo).

3. pre-existing or new paint jobs on mod. shells. Bring out your heavy duty tools here. (should we include mini z’s here? I think mini’s fit for the first cat. But are ppl making new shells for their mini’s) Lights for effect, ie underbody or headlamps are allowed in this open cat.

I agree about the pic quality, as well as the way you take the pic, but you gotta start somewhere:) This would be the first shot at a comp. and I suspect if it is somewhat successful there would be others to come. Heck, I don’t even own a dig. camera

Give ppl 60 days to get their pics in to the Admin. Should have at least 3 judges. You don’t even have to know who the judges are really since pics etc.. could be emailed around and looked at very easily with the net. Do we have to know who is judging??? Or should we just say A&D and Trading Direct judge??

Perhaps the categories should be broken into Car type or scale groups? MiniZ, BCG scale, etc. You can’t really put the look of a Mz against the look of a BCG.

Perhaps the car should have room for the AusMicro logo, and Trading Direct logo on the roof or bonnet. Perhaps if people add the logo just printed on plain paper put in position to demonstrate where they think the logos would go???

i think there shuld be a sperrate category for Z’s cos they are very different cars.
BCG and Digi Q and any other under 1/43 scale R/c is sweet, lets have a 1/80 – 1/43 and a 1/28 to 1/10 and anything over is in its own category
hows that sound?? and impreza, heaps of ppl make new shells for there z’s. 1/24 kits are golden

WEll i think about a month, maybe just over would be fair.

I think there will be 3 categories for now, but there will be more contests in the future so dont worry 😀

1. Best Paint Work on any BCG Body (pretty open)

2. Best Ausmicro Painted Body (using blue, red and white paint only)

3. Best Modded Customised Body (has to be bcg body modified however you like, wings, body kits, etc)

SO those are the categories, prizes will include bodysets, motors, etc, but will be finalised.

Say if we start the submitting of entries from thr 1 april, and it can close off on the 30 april, this should give people enough time, altho extensions may be able to be made for people with troubles with cameras, etc. Theres most of the details there, but ill post the complete details by the end of the week !

Any late suggestions, just let me know

Only 1 or two. I think the local shop sells them in 3 packs. I’ll probably have to but a 3 pack of clear and a 3 pack of white to do the decals I want on my kids cars (and mine of course). That’ll leave 1 or 2 for the AusMicro decals. They’ll be cut into individual decals and sent to Aaron to sell through the site.

I think seeing them on the best car for a three color mod, will do wonders for this site on the net. The owner would have that to brag about for a few months on the site, as well as have his/or her car on the home page.. I think it is a win, win. Ausmicro gets a free use of the pics on the site and the owner gets a rare item, that not many other ppl have, yet:) All we need is the decal, size, location, and the go ahead from Aaron… as well as the contest run by Barrelll. Sounds like a bit of work, but doable. Again, I will pitch in, where I can, if help is needed to give this thing some feet.

Have already offered to help write the rules for the comp or help judge. Heck, I would even through in one of the two t-shirts I bought as a prize if asked.

I just think that comps would give everyone a chance to show there stuff, or try new mods/ideas as well as advertise the site *sound of a broken record (or cd:)*. We are involved in a few ways – I’ve just sent Barell another PM today that gives a few ideas on how we (ausmicro.com) can help facilitate the running of competition in a manner that gives everyone a clear area to do it.

We’ll also be offering to ‘host’ the images for people in their own specific members.ausmicro.com/logonname area. I’m still ramping through some final backend stuff before I can really say much more.
