ok comparing a mac to a compaq,dell,ibm whatever is like comparing a 3,000$ mountain bike to a huffy.

pre built store bought computers are horrible and thats exactly why windows has such a horrible stigma. so ya if you want an overpriced(tho not as overpriced as macs) computer that is going to give you problems then yes get a dell or Horse Poop.

and bruce a dual p4 could be built for under a grand(compared to 3grand for a comparable g5).

get this i built my new pc a month ago and it has yet to totally crash out on me. and it has 4 fans in it(i could put another 5 to be like steve jobs if i wanted) and they are speed controlled by the motherboard just like the crapintrash.

again: if you have way too much $$ to know what to do with go buy a mac and a few sun boxes and ship them to me and ill use the hell out of them.

if you are on a budget, http://www.newegg.com and build yourself a good one for way less.

macs are the worst american thing you can buy. pcs are taiwanese at least dude.

seriously tho they do make quality hardware that is overpriced. and the lack of software is kind of pointless.

so unless you are a whiney black turtleneck wearing art f4g, id go with a pc which will give you close to the same performance for 1/3 the price.

their laptops are made well tho. and their lcds.
