    i dont think that the zipzap motors/shen motor are completely compatable.. the motors wont fit directly in any of my cars, and when i do get it in, its binding the motor so it dosent spin correctly.. the only way i see that it could work would be to shave a little plastic of the chassis. i have tried several times, and decided to give up.. i will leave like motors with like cars..

    i use a lot of the Faskolor paints. they are water based paints. so no thinner is needed, and they come premixed for your airbrush.. if you do need to thin them out you just add some water. the faskolor paints have a huge selection of colors, as well as the color changing paints, and the metallic paints that have the huge glitter ghunk look. the only thing is that you have to put on a good coat of clear whenyour done. thats it! they even have a lot of pearl tinted paints.

    that depends on the paint. i think testors should be mixed 3:1 or 4:1 check on the bottle or go to the testors website.

    oh, thats a bit different. most airbrushes made for the modeling do have plastic/rubber pieces..

    however Pasche and badger airbrushes recommend that you use special airbrush cleaner. im not sure how much longer it will make your airbrush last, but the stuff is cheaper than laquer thinner so thats basically what ive been using.

    auctually you should never run thinner through your airbrush. you should buy special airbrush cleaner. thinner tends to destroy plastic parts.

    and i have never really seen an acrylic that cleaned up good with water. in fact usually on most acrylics it will say clean up with laquer thinner.

    acetone works great but it can sometimes eat up plastic, its kinda strong so be careful with it. and personally i think it smells good, probably cuz i used to work in a body shop..

    i agree with Shypo.. acrylics work good too, i just dont have any. either way make sure you clean the body good with soap and water to remove any oils from your fingers and you should be ok..

    just make sure they have adequate time to dry befor applying a second coat of anything. otherwise you might bubbbe up paint.. espically if you mix the two.

    lol yea. i got some kit tires too. i was just thinking about it , and you could paint or use a marker on the white kit tires to make the tread and part of the sidewalls black, so you could have a lowrider with the whitewalls…

    anyway i just added a tutorial on cutting out the bodys. I would like to hear what everyone thinks about it. im tired right now as its 3am, i will do the painting tutorial sometime in the next day or two.

    if anyone thinks i missed anything on it let me know. or if there is anything that i can add to it, dont hesitate to let me know either.

    thanks everyone:dead::clown::smiley16::D

    i probably wasted 20-30 bodys finding the right combinition of plastic and design of mold. but in talking to the distributor whom i get the plastic from. these things differ from machine to machine, depnding on how hot and how much suction power they have.

    ok, heres what i did. you can see these bodys below which have been pretty much carved out of plaster and bondo. well i primer them, which enables me to see imperfections more clearly. then i sand and repair imperfections. once their ready i give one final primer and bake it on, so that its good and hard… (things take forever to dry here) then its just a matter of pushing a button on the molding machine… i place the car that you see below on the machine. and the machine does the rest. it basically pulls the plastic around my mold.

    well vaccum molds are more about sucking the plastic up agianst the mold, to form the body. all of the molds for vac machines that i have ever seen are always…. well the plastic wraps around the car. im kinda confused with the your convex/concave. i guess im doing what your thinking is concave… the body would be concave, and the mold itsself is convex.. so the plastic wraps all around the mold and covers it… this does work food for body lines, however side mirrors are pretty much impossible. you have to remember that you have to be able to pull the plastic body off of the mold. if you have mirrors on it the plastic will form around them and lock the mold to the plastic therefor forcing you to cut the plastic or break your mold.

    however if you had a 2 piece mold which you sucked the plastic into, kinda like what is done with resin molding, you might be able to pull off the mold in 2 parts, but this would be difficult because the plastic would most likely form the seam between the two parts of the mold.. i will take a pic of one of my molds later tonite so you can see how i do it. 😯

    well, to make one out of wood i would basically hvae to carve it by hand. i have been carving the bodys outa different things putty, bondo, wood, plaster… and then using them as a mold. these bodys look best with a good paint job. i have done several modifications to them in the process of getting them to come out clean. anyway i just threw together a little site. check my signature….
