I actually found a 3AA box with cover and switch @ Dick Smiths over the weekend for under 2 dollars.

Am thinking of getting it and try and find a faulty controller, remove the charging base from it and mount it on the cover of this thing.

With 3AAs, it should charge more rapidly. Only thing is that it wont have a timer, so I’ll need to work out how long I should charge it for and rig up a timer.

I’m pretty sure I’ve read about it somewhere but can’t seem to find it again though

Slightly off the topic, but still on Initial D…

Almost bought the series 1 (boxset), 2(boxset), 3 and the extra stage DVDs today, until I worked out how much it would have been… (close to 300bucks)

It’s gonna take me forever to save up that much money… :dead:

LOL Make sure you have a pit lane, and use it to pull in and charge the bit, change the gearing, etc. 😀

That way, you can “run out of petrol” and have a better pit strategy than the other guy (or girl as the case may be)

mini-zracer.com were advertising some dry lubed ball bearings a while ago…

I’ve just got some topcad or rcrm ones, but they were a while ago, so I can’t really remember…

Toyeast sells them and so do rcmart. mini-zracer.com and draconious(?) should either have them or be able to get them in too 🙂

Best to remove the batteries before performing any maintenance on your Z

Autoscales are also another cheap alternative to get new bodies and wheels (And you do not have any leftover controllers)

A soft earplug between the engine housing and the back of the chassis makes a relatively good damper

All Palmrunner bodies are supposedly interchangeable with Mini-Z. All Autoscale models are too (and you get the wheels that match on this one)

Palmrunners are also by Kyosho. They are the cheap versions of the Mini-Z and do not have proportional control. They don’t have a full controller, just a little long handled one.

My original Lancer body is pretty dead too. thinking of cleaning everything off and painting it again. (Soon as I get it out of storage) I bought a Mini Power MRS body early to mid last year. (That’s my current showcase car) Still looking for a Castrol Supra body or something like that.

Havent experienced the dull teeth on the pinion gears, but then when I bought my TopCad ball diff, it came with its own set of pinion gears, so I have a few extra 🙂

Edit: I’d go a ball diff and bearings first, and then slowly get the rest of the stuff

Indeed I did Shypo!! Indeed I did!!

Hmmm, guess I should run in my 1.0 motor then. Mine seems much slower than that. No matter, much easier to practice on slower motors. Guess, I’ll have to get some accessories soon 😀
