its been a long long while.. the new track is up and running.. its a more challenging layout so fat chance you’d get under 5secs a lap..
whose up for a meetup on Friday night?
I’ll hv to ring ahead if we do go tomorrow because they usually close up at 5pm otherwise…I don’t think they have OL parts, but they should be able to order them in if you can’t find them elsewhere.
not trying to advertise.. but gigspeed should be able to do it for you 🙂
are you in melbourne?gents..
just an fyi..
the track at gigspeed is getting an upgrade so its closed till 6th July.. the shop is still open though!
the track is being put on a raised platform, the straight is being made wider and longer so we can scream down the straight 🙂Do give them a buzz if you do plan to visit on Friday nights cos they’ll probably lock up at 5pm otherwise…
We’ll definitely organise a meetup of some sort once the updated track is ready….ph2t, you’ve got my vote!
i’m longing to see the day where we can have a large scale 1:28 event in australia… reading about them overseas just makes me drool.. :pUS$199 would be the mini-tile 96.. 30cm tiles…
this kyosho one is 96 of the 50cm tiles.. still too pricey though… it would work out better to get 3 wide-L’s (120 tiles) for US$600 but then you have shipping!saw these in Japan.. not cheap at all..
they also run these at the Kyosho shop in Hong Kong.. they have a dnano track there…. but from what I hear its more expensive to start up than mini-Z and there are no 3rd party hopups.
For those that a curious.. here is a quote i just got back…
By today’s crappy exchange rate.. 1 AUD = 74.5014 JPY
Kyosho No.87051 – mini-Z grandprix circuit (50) 84105 yen -> 1128.91 AUD
Shipping fee by EMS 23900 yen -> 320.93 AUD
Paypal charge 4501 yen -> 60.44 AUDTotal amount 112506 yen -> 1510.71 AUD
STEEEEEEEP!!!!!This is the 96 large tile track.. ie,. 50cm tiles of the mini96
http://www.kyosho.com/eng/products/rc/acce_result.html?sub_series_id=100071a meet would be great but i can’t make it cos i already have plans..
i don’t think my Z will hack it on the grass.. but perhaps i could use it as an excuse to go shopping at gigspeed? 😀
Friday nights.. yer.. 8pm onwards is fine.. we usually hang around till at least 9-9:30.. but if the action is intense we’ll easily be there till 10-11pm! 🙂
see you at 8pm mate!
personally I’ve only seen mini-Z and Iwaver… but they do have micro scale, the Q-steer, 1:10 amongst other things in the shop… come down the next time your in Melb cos it will be hard to leave that place empty handed.. and I think betty.k will agree!
Whose coming down this Friday for some racing? I’ll be there cos my ‘cars’ just went in for a service! :p
Final Thoughts
So in summary… definitely check out the Kyosho shop in Akihabara, its right near the JR station.. you should be able to grab things here if you can’t find it elsewhere. I wouldn’t bother with Kyosho in Omotesando unless you have time or were in the Harajuku area anyway. The shop in Akihabara is alot bigger, has a nicer track and has heaps more stuff I reckon.
RC paradise in Sunamo?.. not on the top of the list.. I’d skip it in preference for Super RC in Akihabara where you should be able to do most if not all of your mini-Z shopping. So out of the places I managed to visit..
1) Super RC in AKihabara
2) Kyosho in Akihabara for things you can’t find and for some nice pics!
3) Freaks Paradise (http://www.freakscafe.com/)for the track if you bring your car or buy one.. (they had a flyer at Kyosho Akihabara)
4) RC Paradise in Sunamo seems to have a nice track… in hindsight..wouldn’t do shopping there unless I had to!and now for the goodies.. I went a little crazy at Super RC and released I’d never be able to fit everything in the spare bag I had for the shopping. So I ended up having to hunt down a cheap sports bag in Akihabara and managed to find one for 1050 yen at one of those duty free shops that are everywhere….
Fragile!
Now a body for some scale..
Not everything is mine.. but I thought it would make an impressive pic..
so what happened to the roadtrip guys?
Easter is coming up.. 🙂back in melbourne now.. well.. that pic was taken on my first day in tokyo.. way back on March 16th..
I just wanted to get my bearings and find the place so if I couldn’t find any hobby shops i’d goto kyosho themselves..since it was the first day i was a good boy… i walked in and out of that place without any dents in my pocket at all…. i just didn’t want to lug everything around the place for 2 weeks…
anyway.. shopping day was the last day in Tokyo.. that was Friday 27th of March.. I will never forget that day.. i picked up a few goodies… well.. maybe more than a few… i think smoke coming out of my pockets would be a complete understatement!
will post pics soon..Guys.. if your in Melbourne.. drag your bum down this friday night for a race meet! I’m itching to get back on the track!
won’t be able to make these two weeks..
but i should be on email! 🙂

February 23, 2009 at 5:43 am in reply to: Box Hill MINI RC TRACK EXTENDED HOURS FOR DEC & JAN #61833fastest lap time I think is 4.5seconds.. I think its been done twice now.
If i remember correctly it was 64 laps in 5 minutes!! and I think that record was set on Feb 14..hmm… i reckon they should have a plaque or something for that… or maybe something like the “best times” board on Top Gear! :smiley16:

I’ll definitely be there!i’m good… i don’t personally know anyone in the areas burnt.. but someone that used to work with my wife lost their house but her family are ok… and one of the doctors who worked where she works didn’t make it but she didn’t know them personally
would be really cool if the infra-red battle tanks could take out those infra-red battle helicopters and vice versa.. haahha:gatlin:
The heatwave has passed and I definitely have the trigger itch in the fingers..
