the new mr-015 has been discussed and shown on the web for awhile now. it’s simply and mr-01 the teh mr-02 front and rear end. it keeps the same track width as the mr-01 so the tie rods will not be interchangeable with the mr-02 as stated. basically everything else will be (excluding the actual chassis parts) which is a plus. now the number of chassis specific parts will be less and easier to keep track of.

i am guessing that the pcb will have breaks now as well? this would seem to be the next logical step… it also justifies the higher price tag to an extent when comparing them to the iwavers as they do not have on board braking (done thru the tx).

there is a nice flash presentation on all the current chassis’s on the mini-ztime website.

i think it’s all a scam if a factory driver wins:dead: what’s the point of common people participating when near professionals are competing. kinda takes the fun out it knowing your racing with someone like that. half the fun of a race is knowing you have a chance:smiley2:

oh, forgot to mention… the kyosho mini-z cup race series has been canceled for 2005 in the u.s.

glad you guys like it as much as i do. the transformer’s were a staple of my childhood. it was an i dea of mine to combine the best of teh two hobbies i enjoy the most.

i also have another body i think your going to love as well. i just haven’t had the time to take any pictures this week. already put in 36hrs this week at work.

i do have plans for more of these.

the way the painting service works, for now as it’s still new and working the kinks out, is i produce all the documentations in terms of photographs, sketches, directions, the body and i am given an estimate for the job. i pay, wait and it get’s mailed to me when it’s done. so far i have not been disapointed and it’s worth the money as i tried painting and it’s hard to get such professional results. i give many props to those with the skills to do this themselves.

since i was lucky enough to be snowed in today;) i got the time to install my amb connector in my x5 chassis and do some work on land cruiser

i managed to get a decent looking light bar built and install a mounting bracket/screw for the roof rack portion.

the full silver alloy chassis is only temporary, i have ordered teh anniversarry chassis for use in the cup races. that chassis is the only one setup for the x5/lc setting so i used that for pictures.

normally, yes. the silver chassis usually has oil shocks and super swamper tires for use offroad and such. i’ve broken enough plastic to realize the benifits and drawbacks of all alloy.

    bithed,
i have about as much free time as you:smiley2: it helps to have a tv ready computer in my hobby room to keep my son happy while i work. i get to spend some time working as well as keeping an eye on the kids, not to mention keep up to date on sponge bob:D

hehe, the dog does look big comapred to the overland.

as far as cost….well, bithed should have a better idea but i really don’t recall and i don’t think i want to:blush:

    amen:smiley2:

i think peoples claims of high priced mini-z’s are unfounded or out of date. if your a smart shopper you can find them for $80-100. (not including any shipping you might have)

i get all my parts from mini-zracer. things tend to sell out, so somethings take longer than other like i just picked up the front damper for the red chassis last week.

as far as the bmw project, i make the roof racks. while the materials per say are not to expensive, the time that goes into them is alot.
the autobot decal was made by myself on the computer and i had them printed for me. the mini-z decals are from the shop. i typically make all my own decals and have them printed on watersilde paper by someone else. wait to you see my other x5 project…lots of cutsom decal work. i have a third x5 project in the planning already. just waiting for the white unpainted x5 bodies to come out (hopefully soon) to make it easier to paint.

well, to be honest, the xmod is more expensive than a mini-z clone and has about the same propo steering, same quality electronics and uses the same motors. just something to think about:clown:

    it doens’t have awd though:smiley2:

please, xmods and mini-z’s are not in the same categorey. as stated by myslef and others, xmods are great for what they are. the same is true with the mini-z’s. they are not on the same level of competition though and as such, are not a good comparison.
that being said…there is no need for anyone to dog the other. if you love your xmod, fine. it will likely develope it’s own races etc and provide many with limited funds a great time, as the mini-z’s have been doing for years. can’t we all just get along:D

well, i agree with you there. if your looking for something fun to drive around, the xmod would make the smarter choice at $50.

i hope to have an xmod or two this week. one for bashing around and another for testing etc.

    i agree with your bit…

really, xmods and mini-z’s aren’t a fair comparison. it’s like comapring the overland with the new mini t (losi?)….they are apples and oranges. (xmods/mini-z) one is a great entry level rc and the other is a great competition grade rc. the price differnces alone reflect this.

what’s cool about them is the potential to mix/match parts

yep, those chassis’s have just about every alloy upgrade offered:D

while i don’t recall the exact dollar amount, it was not cheap:smiley2: i am very pleased with my overland’s and it’s taken me about a year to get them to this point. while all the alloy is not needed, it does look good!

My buddy toook his to the Mini Z track by him and spanked some of them mini z guys ina few races.

Dont let the price and the fact that they are sold at RS fool you these are hobby class cars with lots of hopups and speed 🙂

really, almost all of the reviews i’ve read by mini z owners (about 20) have said the opposite. while they all say the xmod is worth the money, it has always been described as a warm up toy for the mini z and while the plug in hop ups are nice and easy to install, the quality is not on the same level. the most common comparison i’ve read has been the xmods are a great intro level rc to mini-z’s

to do this easily, you need 2 tamiya 1/32 mini 4wd series kits and take 4 tires and the 2 geared wheels from each kit. i snapped them on my stock overland wheels (no tires) but i’ve been told they fit better on racer wheels.
    look here
page 2 and 3 have pictures of whats involved

i just picked up 2 of these and they are very intertaining. the prices are way to high but i was lucky enough to get mine for about $30usd each (possibly becasue the new ones come out this month). i plan on purchasing some of the new ones as well, as long as they are below $50usd, or i’m witing till they fall that low. as much fun as they are, they aren’t worth that much.
i was surprised at their speed. much better than i was expecting. the level of detail is very nice for it’s size. i would recommmned the decal sets as they are rather plain stock.
