Quote:I’m not too happy with my thunder charger now. I’ve ripped it apart adn taken whatever I can to put on my Auldey Clone. However, the motor was a tellw capped motor. I ended up using the thunder charger body to paint an initial d-ish AE86. I’ll post pics as soon as I can.
By the way, How do I post pics?
That sound like a different Thunder Charger than the ones they were selling at Big Lots.
Who knows, there’s so much varience with clones.
We got Thunder chargers here for 5 bucks. The bodies look lame, but out of 8 cars, all have worked perfectly. That pink endbell motor is very torquey, and works well with dual cells. The 7-tooth pinion will work on bits, but is a tad snug.
The tires are wide and flat, and the 6-spoke rims are a nice change. Those are the only clones I’ve been satisfied with, in my own personal experience, and being only 5 bucks, hey, that’s all bonus. Too bad there’s none left around me.
Yep it’s getting about that time.
I’m hopin’ to see some killer last minute entries.
I hear there are some good clones out there, but I’ve been burnt every time. The motors and batteries are better, but I’ve had problems with horrid steering, and weak PCBs. My Bit Char-gs have have always performed perfectly. I’ve had a couple Microssizers that had some steering issues, but like Hue said, they have a warranty, and they’re more than happy to replace them. I just like to work things out for myself.
Serously that is a lot of lights your talking about cramming in there, and then the circuit to run your turn signals.
You have a plan of how you’re going to go about this?
Aaron speaks the truth. My first micro RC clone was dud, and almost steered me away from the hobby. Thank god I bought a Bit Char-G, and found out how they’re supposed to work.
But, I’ve heard nothing but good stuff about Precious clones. Sounds like you got a winner.
Those motors sound like the ones we have in Thunder Charger clones. They are very torquey, I love ’em.
Technically, drifting is when all four wheels slide through the corner. This typically only occurs in 4-wheel drive cars, and it’s very difficult to get a 2-wheel drive car in any scale to ‘drift’.
If your just talking about pitching and sliding through corners, I had a MS Sport that did that straight out of the box w/ the 1.6. It actually wasn’t cool, because when I put faster motors in it, it would spin out all the time. I isolated the problem to be the setup on the front suspension, seems the front end was diving too much, and lifting the back wheels too much.
Thanks Barto. Maybe it looks better because I slapped another coat of clear on it.:smiley2:
Hey Bilbo, how’s it going.
Thanks DaveF. Funny you mention the beach, I just did that last week.
http://members.cox.net/crazylittlecars/surfsup1.jpgI put this car together just for this competition, but along the way, I became inspired, and did it for myself, but I’ll go ahead and enter it anyways.:D
California Style V-Dub
-Microsizer Sport chassis
-Perfection 3.8
-150mah cell
-1 MOSFET in forward and reverse positions, so it has increased performance, but looks stock, and is sane enough to keep on my little track.
-Zip Zap rims and chassis trimmed to accomdate them
-Microsizer rear tires in front, and fat Thunder Charger tires in rear
-Lowered front tab
-Microsizer Beetle body w/ covertable conversion
-Formed the folded down roof from Zip Zap packaging, and super glue
-Did the body kitting also with ZZ packaging, and super glue
-Drilled a couple holes in back to run the pen tip exhaust out of
-Painted PCB charcoal, cut seat backs from Hot wheels car, and glued them on
-Dash board cut from Hot Wheels car, and trimmed to fit
-Surfboard also from Hot Wheels car. It’s held in place temporarly by a thine piece of double stick tape
-Painted interior details, and folded down roof w/ Testor’s Flat Black
-Layed a watyer splash paint theme with Bahama Blue, and Medium Aqua
I’ve spent hours and hours tweakin’ at the front end of my cars, trying to get the steering dialed.
The height of that sway bar, and the height of the steering knuckle seems to make the biggest diference.
I push down on the front corners of my car to make sure the front end has the same amount of dive in either direction.
Quote:Yup. I made them. They’re not as slick looking as I’d like, but I always told I am over critical of the work I do. I’d like to see the backgrounds you’ve done for your bits CrazyDave. Must be a Dave thing. =o)I just put skies behind mine. Yours are cool because they tell a story.
Here you see some of mine behind the cars.

@ph2t, Hey thanks for inviting the pimps over. I’ll be around, need to pick some of that cool Aussie slang that C-dub seems to be picking up :smiley2:
Nice idea with the backgrounds. I’ve always posted my cars with backgrounds. So you’ve saved me the trouble of making them.
You make those DaveF?
Hey guys, another BitPimp representin’ over here. I’ll be postin’ my entries shortly.
Hey ph2t, look I came to visit your hood.:D
