back to what you said concerning 1:10 drifts: now I can put this easier… The Zs drift is prefered by me due to the fact you have to work a little harder to control the drift, whereas (and I quote!! lol) ‘a 4wd can be controlled, point the front’ etc. etc. Well, the satisfaction that comes from drifting a car that is rear wheel drive could never match doing the same with an a.w.d. car, for me anyway. Like I said earlier, my HPI drifts as far as my old Z (4 feet for those you who missed it), but i’m nowhere near as impressed, as it’s so easy to do. If I sound like im repeating myself then you’ve got my point. I had it better put before, but when I wnet to post it, there was issues. Oh, and Josh; a small sideways hop of rear wheels does not a drift make!!!:smiley2:

what was the asking price on the Trueno? Would’nt mind getting my hand on the older one and dropping it 3mm… Did you still want that RX7 now that I think of it? Will bring it with me on Sunday… Plus the blue looks sooo much better than the yellow…

alloy dampers are available…woot!!! Anyway, if scale came into it, multiply Josh’s one foot or so of air by the scale (27), you get 27 feet. I’d like to see any rally car do that and all parts survive… Talldude; damn straight!!

and furthermore, as I said my Micro RS4 drifts easy as, so i’m not disagreeing. My point; if you’ve got the speed, then it’ll work. Xmods DO NOT

Xmods crawl anyway… nah, sticking to the Zs for sure… plus, with the a.w.d. me thinks the Xmod would’nt slide as easy anyway

yeah, I did’nt want to mention that, but rally cars do see to spend a lot of time in the air… but on the other hand they’re on dirt when not airborn. Pass on that for a Z, even if it was a rally version…

i’m going to have to agree with Tim here, up to a point anyway. certain narrow bodies seem too high for the chassis, making it top heavy as mentioned above. If you’re going to run it i’d suggest lowering it 2 – 3mm to add some stability. Plus there’s a pretty as (and low as!)FD RX7 shell sitting on my TV waiting for Sunday, Talldude…

both. By that I mean it’s a low mount, and your shassis will fit with no modification or mount adjust… used to really dislike the AE86, now I think they’re one of my favourites

we’ll play around with heights and angles on the weekend… a bit of sideways slide while leaving the lip of the ramp seemed to help on Sunday…

i hear ya loud and clear!! those ditches can be downright annoying, especially when due to timing you’ve got no choise but to hammer through there at top speed… the resulting sound of Z rejoining the surface is less than apetising… THUD

:smiley16:oh yeah… as for NFS-U, drifting is the meat and veg og the game, it seems… that an bloody drags… ugh. but onto your topic; we need Pete, Josh and maybe Tallie for this… they have all seen my silver GTR slide sideways up to 4 feet. This was achieved (or at least aided, I dont know how it happens) by; soft front/rear springs, no front stabilizer (true independant suspension; soft cut down springs directly onto kingpins over 1 degree camber knuckles), da Dash + 12 x fets, dry bearings and some quick work with the throttle/accelerator. Will show you with the XaNaVi on Sunday, as it seems to be doing the same sort of slides, but shorter. And yes, all wheels are sliding sideways. With the GTR I tend to keep correcting the front end so it will still and not grab suddenly. I put it down to the chassis weight (bring scales; i’ll not post it here), alloy at the front and rear, and no rear suspension to save the extra weight. We’ll can catch some on video and post it up. Oh, and last thing; no soft tires!!

betty; I think you may be right in one respect… the racer does have a servo box to keep things safer, while the monster’s servos are not cased (not the same way…) but after running into poles, walls, etc with the racer, and only one wall contact with the monster, the racer has broken nothing, while the monster damper stay snapped easy as… Kevsta; you would not catch me doing it!! Makes me wincw when I see it happen, but it does look kind of cool seeing it… Petewah; ah Pete, sorry dude… the other issues are ones you’ve witnessed

:evil:petWah:evil:; you’re doing a Timmy, mate… read the date at the top where Josh poses the question, you’ll find that he posted that well before heading around last night… and now it is fixed… we are talking about potential issues caused by jumping Zs… only other thing I know of is a jammed steering servo… what you know about that then?:smiley2:

yeah, that higher jump saw it a foot off the ground… gotta practice throttle work when airborne, so I can at least land on my whells 3/4 of the time… that whipping you mentioned Pete, if we move those jumps abit further apart I should be able to whip it round 360 degrees. That’d be cool to watch… as long as the landing was right

Dont get a second racer, get a monster… you know you want to… gotta have someone close to my area to have a bash against!! we’ve got afew offcuts of carpet sitting around at home Josh, maybe we could incorporate them into the mix, especially down the courts…

i’ll bring the aluminium jumps again… chuck-outs from work that’ve been bent’n sprayed… 400mm wide, 300mm deep, 100mm high (adjustable.) Had em both working in tandem on the weekend, with a 12 tooth pinion as well it’s discovering the joy of cartwheeling… oh well. I’ll pick up some more odds and sods from here this arvo, thinking corflute, will grab a chunk of that too (offcuts of course!!!)

yes. of course. Tis all fixed now. And not just one day’s jumping, mind you. I’m suprised all his soldering was still doing it’s job… betty.k; I give it a week before something else breaks. (mainly due to the fact it spends half of its time a foot or so above the ground, and landing is not always perfect…)

good idea Talldude… helps if you can corner instead of flying through track edging… oh, alum. rear and FRONT damper stays are in… Geo; i’m glad I was’nt the cause of that, but it really freaked me out at the time. Kevsta; you pose an interesting question… ever since I had mine done it’s been 50% issues, 30% maintenance, and 20% running it. Glad i’ve got two. No turbo going into the XaNaVi, im’m actually happier with that things performance than I am with the fetted car. Oh, Tim and Talldude; MUAHAHAHAHAHA (even louder, more evil laugh…) you BOTH think your cars are fast!!:p:D
